(6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. Black-colored. Aroma of roasted malt and quite a lot of hops with some citrus notes. Cask at IndyManBeerCon, 2012. It pours opaque black, with a medium tan head. The nose is roasted malt, spice, plum, raisin, currant, treacle, light tanginess, toast and saltiness. The taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, cherry, raisin, plum, sour fruitiness, varnish, toast, subtle balsamic vinegar, saltiness, spice and umami aspect, with a bitter-sweet finish. Full body and soft carbonation. Smooth, complex and well-balanced.

Half pint, as Decadence Imperial Russian Stout 8,4 % abv., poured from cask at the Marble Arch Inn. Cream-like, tan-colured head. Fragile lacing. Devil-black body. Mocha chocolate to the nose. Fine taste character of cocoa, plums, and woody vanilla. Lingering bittersweet finish with warming alcohol. Velvety mouthfeel. Full bodied. Enjoying sipper (Manchester, 27.01.2013).
