33cl Bottle BBD 15 Oct 2013, poured into a ’Palm’ bulbous glass at home on 7 June 2013. A present from Nice.
Lovely dark brown body with a deep and full head of tan coloured foam. I later poured the sediment into the glass and it still looked fine: a bit cloudy but fine.
The nose was malty sweet: raisins and other dried fruits (plums too). Reminded me of ’Vimto’
to be honest (a UK version of a coke like drink).
The taste follows the aroma: sweet and malty with a fruity undertone. Mild nut flavours in the mix as well. Smooth, rich and a pleasant surprise: wasn’t expecting such an interesting beer to hidden away in the bottle. rand (1920) - SWITZERLAND - MAY 16, 2013

Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a very thin beige head. The aroma is malty with vegetables in the background. The taste is sweet of roasted malt with a dry finish of coffee.

Bottle from Nice, Chesnut brown with beige head with good lacing. Nose of cinnamon and port. Aftertaste a bit unpleasant. Has caramel sweetness, low hops with caramel malts, high carbonation with good amount of sediment. SaintMatty (7647) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - APR 4, 2009
330ml Bottle - Dark brown in colour, with a bit of a haze and a small tan head. Fruity and spicy aroma with hints of raisins, cinnamon and cloves. Fruity taste with malt, spice and some roasted notes. Raisins, cinnamon, cloves and marzipan can be detected in the taste. Nicely balanced and very drinkable. I am impressed. Bottle in Menton, 2006.
A spiced abbey double. Dark brown, cloudy, very small head that quickly disappeared. A touch of lace left over.
Sweet aroma of fruits—berries, and spices—cinnamon? Not much of the beer itself coming through. A touch of chocolate too. Full-on roasted malt flavor, though. A touch sweet, but not overboard, well balanced by roasted flavor and alcohol. Not a lot of hops noticeable. Dry finish, roasted malt, some hops?
Very well balanced. Spices come through extremely strong in the nose, but very light in the flavor. Well done again. A really nice beer.

Bottle. Dark amber color, offwhite head. Roasted aroma, some coffee and cocoa, licorice and raisin notes, some viol. Malty roasted flavor, viol, licorice, some pleasant bitterness. thill25 (233) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JUL 10, 2008
33 cl bottle...pours dark brown w/ a mostly lasting, two finger, tan head (again, over carbonation). Wonderful aroma of dark fruits, yeast, caramel! The flavor was nutty, and spicy. There was strong hints of roasted malts, dark fruits, caramel, and even a minimal amount of coffee notes. The palate was fizzy, tingly, slight sour and sweet. There was a lasting bitter sweet finish. The was the best beer from Mare Nostrum Brasseur du Sud. Excellent!
