Aroma of dark fruits and yeast. Head is medium and slightly off colour white. Colour ruby brown. Taste is intense plummy malt, some red wine notes with slight spice in there too. Body is thick and syrupy. Delightful. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours with no head really. Color is light cola. Aroma is recognizable as an abbey beer having characteristics of sweet, fermented malt and "old", cellary feeling. Additionally, marzipan, faint herbal liquor, fresh toasted toast, black tea. Palate is decent, a bit too watery. Taste is a bit surprisingly also a bit watery. It's like watered down strong ale. There are no odd sidetastes, but the experience still feels a bit incomplete, since the taste is so watery. It can be considered refreshing, but it's not nearly as rich as I prefer. Slight disappointment.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2018 0.33l bottle. Hazy orangish brown body with a huge and lasting beige head. Looks great. Both in the nose and mouth, it shows an expected caramelly, dark sugary character with notes of cloves, raisins and cocoa, but there is also a bit of sour grape must to it too that I didn't see coming. The finish has a hint of spicy hops. Nice beer. If it was a bit more robust in body and taste, it could be even better.

A tricky one this. Looks glorious when poured so I expected more from the taste and aroma, which were surprisingly bitter/sour without much depth (very refreshing though) and slightly musty. Well drinkable but by no means exceptional.

Bottle from la supérette a bières. Brown color, red reflects, white head. Malts, yeast, booze, caramel. It's a powerful beer, quite good

tomandoaltura (363) - - NOV 21, 2017
