Very flavourful, strongm, and a bit spicey, this is also highly drinkable and smoothly balanced. It’s dark red-brown with a big tan head that shrinks slowly to a thin, frothy top. It leaves some foamy lace. The aroma, very nice, is dried and fermented figs, brown bread, whole wheat, raisins and port. Taste is port, sweet-sour plums, fermented fruit, strawberry and cherry jam, hints of licorice and cola, sweet toastiness. Unfortuinately, it falls a little flat in character after an initially incredible start, but it still stays good.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2017 Dark red, clear. Aroma plum, dates and the typical Belgium yeastiness. Taste has a lot of caramel, well balanced with the yeastiness and bitterness at the end.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with lasting form top. Aroma bready cereal malts with some vegetable herbal notes. Taste is medium bitter to sour with light raisin sweet background elements. Palate edges towards full bodied average to lively carbonation thick texture and a languorous sour to bitter finish. A Trappist to stay quiet about.

CraftyHare (127) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - OCT 22, 2017
330ml bottle pours deep red-brown with foamy off-white head. Aromas of dark cherry, caramel malt, nuttiness, but a little soapy. Tastes of dark fruit, molasses, brown sugar, roasted malt, bready yeast, brandy and herbal characters. Quite a bit of sugar up front. Dry finish with a little cherry sourness. Great flavour profile, but leaves me looking for a little more depth.
