A: The pour is almost black with a finger of tan head.
S: Starts off with lots of roasted malt and oak. There is plenty of chocolate with a mild coffee note, some vanilla, and a little bit of dark and red fruit notes to it. Mild toffee and molasses sweetness.
T: Rather similar flavors. Roasted malt, chocolate, and vanilla with plenty of oak. A somewhat vinous quality with a little bit of dark fruit, especially plums and raisins. The chocolate really picks up as the beer warms.
M: Medium bodied with a low to medium carbonation.
O: A pleasant surprise. I wasn’t expecting much from this one, as it sounded a little funky, but enjoyed it quite a bit. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - MAR 25, 2009
On tap at the brewery. Black the a small brown head. Chocolate and red wine aroma. Tastes of chocolate and drip coffee caramel then a big vanilla and oakfinish. Damn good.
