Hazy copper with a small off-white head. Malty aroma with toffee, along with some pine hops and dried fruit notes and quite a bit of alcohol. Sweet toffee and biscuit flavour with fruity hops and a firm bitterness Marsiblursi (3083) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 23, 2012
(Bottle) Pours pale mahogany brown. The aroma is big time caramelly and toffee-like malty with fruity undertones of prunes and figs. Bit nutty on the nose. The flavour is medium to heavily sweet and light bitter with notes of caramel, toffee, nuts and dried fruits like prunes and figs. Really malty in the flavour as well. Some grassy hops. The mouthfeel is round and light sticky with a soft carbonation. Medium to full bodied. Leaning more towards England than the US. saxo (19522) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - AUG 13, 2011

Bottle, bought @ Voldby Købmandsgård.
Clear red chestnut with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma has caramel, light chocolate, some resiny hops, pine, vinious. Some raisins. Lowish carbonation, fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is mild resiny hoppy, lots of caramel, toasted, light milky chocolate. VInious and warming. Light hoppy finish. Fine beer.
22 ounce bottle purchased at Sunflower Market in Roseville, CA. The aroma on this is pleasant enough. Somewhat sweet with some raisin. I also get some leather and tobacco in the nose, too. Nicely aromatic. Moderately hazy amber body with a medium-ish manilla colored head. Starts sweet with some brown sugar flavors, which mirrors the aroma. Becomes a little roasted and burnt in the middle with leather and tobacco notes present. Ethanol is well-hidden. Definitely an English-style barleywine. I could see how some people would think this is a little too sweet. Somewhat reminiscent of Steve Altimari’s Old Inventory, and that’s a real good thing!

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear ruby color with a moderate frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruit, earthy hop aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark fruit bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid complex beer. Pinball (12311) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 15, 2011
clear dark brown, smooth offwhite head.
rathier mild old ale aroma, slight fruitiness, some malts.
flavor is very dry dark caramelly, normal to sweet malty, faint dark chocolate, faint cristmas spicy note. Also a flavor like the dark fruits in a belgian quad. Raisins, plums. A barley wine with a flavor profile that resembles brown ale a bit, but also lends from other heavy brews (except the roasted ones), pretty complex and quite tasty. I’d put it down as an american strong ale instead of barley wine. The hop profile is very subdued, and doesn’t add much flowers and even not much bitterness for an american brew. chrisv10 (18497) - DENMARK - MAY 11, 2011
Bottle. Dark copper/brown with small beige head. Flavour is malt, caramel, dark fruit, little bitter, vinous and hops. blankboy (7808) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 10, 2011
Bottle [22oz] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a dark amber-brown with an average size semi-lasting frothy beige head. Nice fruity aroma along with caramel malt, some chocolate, toffee, wood, spices, alcohol and more. Flavour of dark fruit, slightly sweet and malty, along with yeast and light hops. For a 9% beer the alcohol is quite well hidden. Medium bodied. This is very good stuff! HogTownHarry (7065) - Toronto (Harbourfront), CANADA - APR 19, 2011
22oz bottle shared with blankboy and garthicus. Deep ruby pour, looks thick, average frothy tan head. Solid caramel malt toastiness, plenty of alcohol, waves of green grassy/resin bitterness - yummm. Taste - all that, but hot DAMN, raisin/prune and way more sweet tastly malt. Love it. Thick, a bit acidic, strong alcohol, frothy and airy, a long boozy/malty/fruity finish. Different, I really like it.
