Bottle… Mostly clear blood orange ale with no head. Very malty, biscuit nose – toffee and Luden’s honey cough drops. Full-bodied with a very creamy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Gooey, sweet blend of caramel, honey and toffee. Subtle hops. Lengthy malty finish. Kudos to Beerlando for sharing the bottle! kp (10881) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2007

opaque rusty orange with a nice off-white head, strong earthy hop aroma, big hop flavor on a rich malt base, just enough sweetness to balance the hops, full flavor to the end
fair amount of oxidation showing up in the flavor and aroma but still quite viable, lots of rich brown sugar sweetness, plenty of fruity sweetness,
Aroma: 7/10; Appearance: 8/10; Flavor: 7/10; Palate: 5/10; Overall: 16/20

Bottle at Jan & Charlottes tasting, Ulfborg, Denmark 09.04.11 cheers Jan & Charlotte Murky chestnut brown with a light beige head which soon disappears. Some fruit n the nose, heavy sweetness and a bit harsh in the mouth. Bittersweetness coming through, not as smooth or as rounded as the description suggest. A5 A3 T6 P3 Ov11 2.8

22 oz. bottle via trade shared with the group from notes 2011. Pours a hazy reddish amber color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have caramel malts, dark fruits, raisin, fig, resin, I can see the vinous character from the description, medium plus body, some viscosity. Solid, tasty barley wine. I would have this again. DuffMan (10610) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 13, 2008
Hazy golden-tinged brown, dense tan head. Enticing aromas of burnt sugar, toffee, faint candied fig, and faint woody hops. Big rich malty palate, with flavours of demarara sugar, toffee, fig paste, dried cherries, and a solid woody hop finish. Excellent! marcus (10584) - Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 20, 2007
Sampled at Sacramento Brewing Barleywine Festival. This dark amber ale poured with a thin off-white head. The flavor is nutty and fruity with a more bitter finish - too many bittering hops for a BW. Overall, however, this was a pleasant chewy drink. phaleslu (10553) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 31, 2014
22 oz. bottle from Total Wines in Phoenix. Pours a somewhat cloudy reddish amber with a medium beige head. Notes of caramel malts, dark and dried fruits (dates, figs, raisins), brown sugar, pine resin- hits all the right notes. Medium-full bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sticky, chewy mouthfeel. Big, tasty American barley wine. Really good. I need to get my hands on the other versions. KimJohansen (10511) - Frederiksberg C, DENMARK - DEC 31, 2008
