COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like the old porters of Ireland, our porter is super-rich and velvety. It is deep brown in color, with richly roasted and chocolate-y flavors. Like all Marin Brewing Company Ales, this contains no preservatives and is not heat-pasteurized.

VinegarStroke (441) - Napa, California, USA - NOV 8, 2013
Bottle: Very dark. Good thick tan head. Dark roasted malt and char. Dense dark and closed. Low hops if any. Palate is dry, not bitter or sour. Very dark roasted malt. Thick, dense, rich and long. Chocolate and roasted brown spice. Malt flavors are very dominate. Not sure if it’s really a Porter. Almost Stout like to me. Good beer but maybe wrong style.

Pours an opaque dark brown with a creamy tan head. Dry malty aroma with a matching body that has a semi-sweet body. Somewhat light bodied.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a thick black color without much head. Roasted malt flavors and a hint of coffee bitterness. Full of flavor.

FROTHINGSLOSH (8069) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2013
Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge foamy brown head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was cola, toasty malts, cocoa and vanilla. The flavor was toasty malts, coffee, cola, cocoa, vanilla and a bit of sweet cream. Medium length toasty cocoa, coffee and cola finish. Moderately full bodied. Nice.

22 oz. bottle. Aroma is dry dark chocolate with hints of dark fruit/cherries/raspberries. Many stouts are lighter in color than this beer. Head retention is excellent and lacing covers the entire glass - makes for a very appetizing pint. Taste is dry dark chocolate and a very nice, rich mouthfeel, slight caramel sweetness, and hints of berry following through to the finish. Slight char flavor which would really hit it off with a nice blackened steak. Very nicely balanced. Hops are very low and balance is mainly achieved through the roasted malt. An excellent robust porter.

Use caution when pouring-forms a huge persistent head. Nice and dark. Super smooth and velvety. Very nice!

phaleslu (10551) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 27, 2012
22 oz. bottle via BA trade about 6+ months ago. Didn’t want to wait any longer. Pours a dark, mostly opaque, brown with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, toast, nuts, mild roast, and even a hint of dark fruits. Flavor of chocolate, earth, nuts, toast, and pit fruit. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a toasty, nutty mouthfeel. Very solid porter.

Tap at Marin. Very dark pour with a frothy brown head. Huge rich chocolate, cocoa, and roast on aroma and taste. Outstanding porter.
