COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like the old porters of Ireland, our porter is super-rich and velvety. It is deep brown in color, with richly roasted and chocolate-y flavors. Like all Marin Brewing Company Ales, this contains no preservatives and is not heat-pasteurized.

Blackstrap and semisweet aroma. But the flavor is much more charred hardwood and moist tobacco. Silky smooth. Long, dry finish. A textbook porter--which is no easy thing to achieve (for every ten "textbook" stouts or IPAs I find, I’m lucky to find one comprable porter). A must for porter aficianados.

From tap at Liquid Gold, San Francisco. Black color with off white to beige head. Roasted malty aroma, chocolate, coffee and caramel. Sweet and light bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Decent porter, but my main problem is that the taste kind of leaves you hanging a bit unsatisfying because it feels like it makes you a bit thirsty rather than quenching your thirst/washing down your food.

Pours black with a tan head. Roasted malt, caramel, toffee, toast and chocolate aroma and flavors. Medium body and carbonation with a toast and roasted malt finish.

Draft at the Marin brewing company larkspur. Opaque jet black coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is woody, roast coffee, hint of ash and vanilla. Flavour is composed of sweet creme caramel, vanilla, soft woody roast, some burnt toast. Palate is medium full, highish carbo action, semi sweet, slightly abrasive. Decent robust porter.

Draft. Roasty aroma. Black color, nice thick tan head. Full bodied. Chocolate and sweety malt palate. Excellent creamy sweet finish, minimal bitterness or alcohol. Delicious.

"the flavor of this porter is standard for the style, but more assertive, which is nice. above average, nice, full mouthfeel. a recommended porter...good, like most of their beers."

Bomber shared. Poured dark brown with big frothy mocha head. Nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark roasted malts and chocolates. Flavor is much of the same flavorful roasted malts and lots of chocolate. Nicely balanced from start to finish.

Meh. I was actually in the mood for a good porter. This is NOT that. They call it "velvety" and it is... But that is about all this beer has going for it. It smells AND tastes like metal. Boo. Oh, well. For $4.99 a bottle, I didn’t expect it to change my life.

A nice, simple creamy porter. Pours a beautiful deep black with a thick brown head. Not much smell, a bit creamy. Taste is very smooth and creamy with a balanced taste. Had on tap at the brewery.
