22 fl oz bottle. Pours pitch dark with a lovely creamy and chocolate brown head slowly diminishing in this lovely melting way into the beer beneath. Chocolate, roasted malt, mild vanilla and light hops fruity aroma. Flavour has all of this in a nice creamy blend with a fruity flavour that lends itself towards a blackberry note. Medium sweet and fruity hops finish swept in a nice creamy chocolate malty and slight tarish roasted malt finish. Lovely and highly drinkable! Bottle. Pitch black thick brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, giving it a bit of acidity, but also notes of dark bitter chocolate, leading to a dry bitter roasted and chocolaty end. But the body is a bit thin. joergen (28949) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 31, 2007

Bottle at home ... Thanks to Agent Steve for this one ... deep black with short lived brown foam head ... oddly almost no nose just a faint roast .. soft roast ... light hint of sourness ... some gentle coffee ... like the nose this has a very low flavour level... whats there is quite tasty ... some chocolate ... a ligth vanilla ... but ive never seen such a low flavour profile in a stout... ligth roast bitterness in linger ...
Ok its coming to life a bit more as it warms up ... I hadnt chilled it ... I NEVER CHILL beers but it was direct from my beer storage about 16C (60F) so not that ... more roast shows ... and a bit more chocoalte ...

On tap at Apex in Portland, split with Matts_Property, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, oatmeal and some chocolate malt. Flavour of oatmeal, chalky roasted malt, nuts and slightly muted chocolate. Decent, but muted flavour profile. Oakes (18472) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 5, 2006
On tap at the brewery
More or less black in colour with light brown head. Roasty, malty and even a bit tangy aroma. Smooth body, rich with chocolate and roast. A little bit of nuttiness, too. Decent bitterness but otherwise no particular hop character. This is a classic rich and meaty American stout.
