Originally rated November 2005. This beer is now brewed by Sleeman Maritimes and I think only found in the maritimes, Canada. Thanks to Pedro for sharing this one with me. Pours a clean amber colour with decent sloppy lacing. Nice caramel aromas with some hoppy nose. The mouthfeel is semi-watery. The taste, I would say, is the weakest point of this brew, but still quite decent for a cream ale. Mild bitterness, alcohol and grain malt flavours. A slightly better than average cream ale. Copper amber ale with a thin white head. In aroma, a sweetish malts with notes of iodine, and cinnamon notes. In mouth, a sweet lightly spiced caramel malt, fusel alcohol, short in mouth. Not very good. Early 2007. AaronBouchard (150) - Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, CANADA - NOV 17, 2007
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2007 I must say I don’t enjoy the aroma it smells kinda like wet dog. An intresting amber colour. It looks like a beer that would have a big rich taste but honestly it really dosent and I like that. It is kind of sweet and has a pleasent aftertaste. Pretty decent find JRHBrew (367) - Fredericton, New Brunswick, CANADA - JUL 23, 2007
One of the 2 beers that wasn’t brewed by Gahan that I tried while in PEI. Very odd beer. I liked it for all the wrong reasons. pootzboy (1711) - Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 30, 2006
One of the Ice house ales I encountered in Lunenberg paired up with a plate of oysters.
Poured a bright copper color with a 1 finger tan cap fair retention and lacing.....very mild aroma; smokey caramel and some grass. Medium body fair malt spine smokey-sweet character mild mouth feel.
Started sweetish, caramel, friuty, then a tad of toast and smoke, fast wet clean finish and mild biscuit after tastes.
One of the best commercial beers I have tasted in NS.

This actually poured an alright colour when I wasn’t drinking it from the bottle. Nice bright amber colour with a frothy white short-lasting head. The aroma is slightly fruity with a sweet malty presence. The body is fine - slightly on the sweet side with a mild hop presence. At least it’s clean. This cream ale poured adark yellow colour with a little off white head. First to the nose was this metallic scent then came the scent of dark malts with brown sugar. A little nuttiness to it also. First sip was pretty good with flavours of molassass and wine. Palate was not bad but syrupy. Eructoblaster (4175) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 27, 2006
On tap at Maxwell’s Plum (Halifax, NS). Amber body with heavy carbonation and a decent white foamy head. Its malty aroma carries nutty notes. Malty/hoppy taste is enjoyable, but lacks complexity. Ends with a good bittersweet finish. Good everyday ale. CapFlu (5126) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 24, 2006
(Bottle) Purchased a 12-pack at the PEI LCC for $19. Pours a foamy, white lasting head and a highly active carbonated amber body. A silky malted nose and a creamy nutty flavour that never transcended into the ’tasty range’. It finished with a milk elixir texture that disagreed with my tongue, stomach and decending colon --- thus causing me to deposit the remaining 11 bottles in the Delta Prince Edward hotel rooms of my colleagues. destroye7 (312) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 14, 2006
Tap at Maxwell’s Plum, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Good foamy head that didn’t last. Amber color (I was expecting a black beer). Some malty aroma. A nutty after taste. Good beer.
