Hoppy, crisp, and citrusy, with an underlying malt character. Made by blending lots of malted barley, wheat, and a judicious quantity of Cascade hops. A "big" beer!

ACHops (1582) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 12, 2012
12 oz bottle. Pours copperish orange with thick lacey head that lingers considerably. Aroma is bright citrusy hop flavors and biscuit malts. Taste is sharp hops with strong notes of pine, citrus, and grass. Hops taste fresh even though this is an older bottle. Solid malt body with sweet biscuity flavor. Finishes bitter. At 7.5%, clearly not a DIPA, but a very nice rich standard IPA.

2012-08-09, bottle from QFC - Seattle (Ballard), 6-4-7-3-12=32
Cloudy light amber color. Light aroma of caramel and sugar. Some caramel flavor, very light residual sweetness, light puke, correct hopping.
Not very Imperial, and without malt or hop fine qualities.

20912-07-29, draught at Lockspot Fish & Chips Bar, Seattle, as Maritime IPA (sic), 6-4-7-4-14=35
Hazy amber color. Mild aroma of toffee. Quite good malt and toffee flavor, lean mouthfeel, with good caramelly hopping, mild hop resins in the end.
Pleasant.

Pours a clear golden orange color with a one finger white head that quickly settles into a thin ring.  Streaks of lacing left behind. Complex hop aroma with lots of tropical and citrus fruit notes countering the earthy, grassy character.  Hints of grapefruit, pineapple and orange pell followed by earthy pine needle and biscuity malt. Medium bodied with a nice balance of bitter, earthy hops and sweet fruit notes. Hints of grassy pine needle giving off dry bitterness that lingers throughout.  This is countered by hints of citrus rind, grapefruit and pineapple.   Some biscuity pale malt and sweet booze toward the finish.  Well balanced and dangerously drinkable.

Tap @ Taphouse Grill, Seattle. Clear golden amber with a white head and lacing. Aroma of biscuit dough, herbal tea, citrus and alcohol. Flavor is doughy malts with a medium hop bitterness and alcohol warming. Medium body with a thin mouth feel. This is an alright beer, kind of boring though.

Half pint at the brewery. Pours a cloudy light orange with a good head. The aroma is citrusy with notes of pineapples and grapefruit. Not incredibly aromatic for the style, but I can tell there are some hops going on. The flavor is far more robust. It’s resinous with pine, cough drops, lemon and a lingering, drying bitterness. The body is full, on the heavy side of things. It’s pretty good. It has the heaviness of an IIPA but not quite the hop onslaught, but remains enjoyable.

Outside of the word Imperial on the bottle, not sure what makes this anything beyond a regular IPA from the PNW. The nose is notably disappointing as I expect a beautiful explosion of hop aromatics from DIPA, this shows hints of pine and little else. Pleasant, fresh mouthfeel and a dry finish, but nothing standing out as Imperial or Double.

Poured into a tulip. Pours a cloudy gold color... no expiration date on the bottle so I’m not sure if this was a bit old. Aroma of hops and malt, maybe a little citrus. Taste was medium bitter, not too flavorful. Thin mouthfeel with a light bitter finish.

Dogbrick (13003) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 3, 2012
Sample at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. This beer pours a clear pale orange-gold color with a medium thin off-white head that evaporates steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of hops, grapefruit and sweet malt. The finish is hoppy with a short citrus aftertaste. Decent overall.
