This cider comes from award-winning craft cider maker Sandford Orchards who make it at their family-run farm near Crediton in Devon. The apples, grown on or within 10 miles of the farm, include the wonderfully named Farmers Glory and Slack-ma-Girdle varieties. This golden cider has a light tone, crisp bite and a pleasing bittersweet finish with bags of apple on the palate. Perfect match for... Great with salads and cold meats, fruity chutney and bread, this also has enough character to go with pasta dishes. A wonderful lunch time cider.

500 ml bottle bought at M&S in Langham Place, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Clear very pale golden colour; One finger head with residual soapy white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Almost no lacing with fizzy carbonation; Fragrant aroma of apple wine, with strong wood barrels, yoghurt tartness, strong apple flesh, sugar and tannin; Mid to light sweet taste of light apple wine, with light alcohol, light sugar, very light tartness and light tannin; Light body. Watery palate; Mouth feel is fair apple wine in a light body, with boozy notes, low sugar, and light tartness. No apple juice or poppy taste. Very refreshing!... Fairly dry after taste. Light winey and very easy to mouth.

Comments: Not exactly a dry cider, pretty wet actually. It’s light but rather tight with notable light boozed wineyness with low sugar and booze. Very easy going and relaxing. A decent one!

Bottle shared at home. Very pale light yellow with head that lasts two seconds, looks like white wine. Light sweet apple juice, a hint of tart pear, there’s some very light lemon too. Soft mineral notes but no earthy or yeasty or funky notes. Some sweetness and a hint of bitter and tartness. Light bodied with soft carbonation. A bit bland but very drinkeable and refreshing.

330ml can, drunk after rowing down the River Severn on our Seahawk 2 dingie. Pours clear golden yellow, aroma fresh and fruity. Taste is crisp and light, perhaps more so than I expected with breezy apple fruit and drying close. Not too much going on here, but still quite nice with French pate, ciabatta and a pork pie.

SarkyNorthener (4847) - West Bromwich (Yorkshire Expat), West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAR 11, 2017
Bottle from M&S, Merry Hill. Pale golden cider, carbonated. Aroma of light apple and a touch of wood. Taste is sweetish, apple juice and vanilla. Easy drinker.

Bottle from Marks & Spencer, Manchester. Clear paler golden coloured cider. Relatively smooth with a stated and sweet enough apple flavour, with a good potency to it too.

sjogro (4734) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - NOV 13, 2016
Bottle shared at home. Medium dry. Pale golden with no head retention. Sweet apple, dry appleskin, yellow apple, dry nutty woodiness, treebark. Medium sweet and light bitter, slightest fruity acidic note. Under medium body, thin sparkly carbonation, sulfites, sugary sweetness yet slightly dry mouthfeel. Quite clean and bit one dimensional in aroma but still nice. Reminiscent of the ciders from Brittany but a bit cleaner and less outspoken.

500ml bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours pale yellow with no head. Carbonation looks high. Aromas of sour apples, apple skin. Taste is dry, light sour. Bit fizzy.

AshtonMcCobb (6916) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 20, 2016
Appearance - pale golden with steady carbonation and no head. Looks like a cider. Nose - sour apples, apple skins and savoury yeast notes. Taste - initially sour apples then sweeter on the finish. Palate - medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - this is pretty good. Less carbonation and it’s there.

BeardedAvenger (1124) - Addlestone, Surrey, ENGLAND - SEP 7, 2016
Bottle at home, 07/09/16. Most of it went in to a stew but enough left to taste. Sweet and sour aroma. Tickles the nose. Very light gold. Slight frothy head. Initial sweetness followed by a slightly bitter end. Light and bouyant mouthfeel, with a dry finish. Nice enough.

PeatyPete (1108) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 16, 2016
Pale golden color. Aroma of apples and a touch of cinnamon. Taste of semi sweet apples and a bit tannin.
