UPDATED: AUG 28, 2016 The aroma is hops with some background sweetness. The beer is black with a nice tan head which retains well. Whilst the aroma is average the flavour is good. Dark chocolate and liquorice with a dry and medium bitter finish. Rerated august 2016.
500ml bottle. Matte black-brown pour and a lightly tan head of foam. Aroma is sweet malt and a bit of bitter hops. Flavors are milder than a real American Black IPA. Still, it is smooth and bitter - easy to drink and tasty. Davros IX (329) - Hertford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2017
2016 catch up - I’ve had two and although it is a tasty beer, I couldn’t call it a black IPA. There are some hops, but it is much more of a porter. I’ve increased the score after the second one as it is a well made and tasty beer. kajser27 (1785) - Zagreb, CROATIA - FEB 8, 2017

Taste is medium sweet malt and chocolate, bit caramel roasted malt, coffee, medium- floral and light citrus hops, medium bitterness, dryish finish. Medium bodied, soft+ carbonation, bit oily. Enjoyable but could go for more hops. fonefan (48667) - VestJylland, DENMARK - FEB 7, 2017

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2016 The looks of the beer are amazing. The color of the beer is a beautiful ruby red. The beer is very dark, almost black. The beer is quite clear. On top of the foam a beautiful layer of light brown colored soft foam. The foam doesn’t collapse, and remains on top of the beer. A layer of foam like this, is very nice. The soft touch to your lips every time is very pleasant. The smell is lovely. I smell some lovely bittersweet hops, chocolate, almonds, licorice and a torch of alcohol. There is also some roasted barley in it. The blend between fresh bittersweet hops and dark bitter and slightly salty roasted barley is lovely. I also smell doughy hops reminding me of Belgian double. The taste is lovely. It’s filled with lovely bitter sweet fruity hop flavors, a little citrusy and floral. Besides this there are lovely bitter and slightly salty flavors of roasted barley. It is an infusion of IPA and porter. There are also some touches of chocolate and coffee, but this flavors are very mild. The palate is lovely. The beer has just the right amount of carboxylation. It has a nice tingle to it. Lovely. JorgeLee (2089) - Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 28, 2016
Bottle, M&S. Dark brown beer, thick white foam. Strong roasty flavours, bitter, coffee, burnt toast, molasses. Some hoppy bitterness, spicy and earthy. Actually quite nice. Maybe the best I’ve had from Meantime. Not sure the Americans would be too happy with this as a Black IPA, but it’s good. MrTipple (4782) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2016
Aroma: dark, roasted malts, dark chocolate, filter coffee. Appearance: black, medium, creamy beige head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: chocolate, toasted malts, light caramel, burnt molasses, dry cacao. Overall: lacking any sort of hops if it really wants to be a Black IPA, decent otherwise. Bottle from M&S, Canary Wharf.
