GoufCustom (1950) - HONG KONG - JUN 27, 2015

500 ml bottle bought at M&S in iSquare, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Looks: Clear deep ruby brown colour; One finger head with crumpety light beige foam which lasted for 90 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and sweet dark malt, with fairly strong roastyness, strong cream, vanilla, sugar, milk chocolate, caramel, iced coffee light dark fruits and light grass.

Taste: Medium sweet roasted dark malt, with strong metallic, strong roasted nuts, caramel, burnt toffee, toast, dark chocolate, light black coffee, light molasses, light bread, yeast, lemon, light bitter hops and light grass.

Body: Close to light body. Slick and slightly creamy palate.

Mouth Feel: Good maltyness in a rather light body. Solidly roasted stole the show, very nutty. Sweetness is subdued, and booze is well hidden. Good caramel and burnt toffee. Rather low chocolate and coffee. Low-blow lemon hops to round. Pretty nice!

Hoppiness: Light grass in nose, Light lemon and light grass in taste. Bitterness is moderately low for an abrupt, low astringent roast-malty finish.

After Taste: Fairly dry. Roasty and grassy to mouth.

Commments: This one has nice sweet creamy aroma, very solid roasted maltyness and neat burnt toast. Brewed to the style and highly sessionable, a solid and neat Porter!

From M&S Brussels

Colour more brown than black. Very pleasant beer. Doesn't have enormous depth, just enough. The more you you sip, the more you like. Reasonable afters. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Light lacing. Aroma of stewed tea, copper and sultanas. Flavour of lightly roasted malt, nuts and black cherry. Thin to medium body with a smooth texture. Lively fizz. Decent, although it tastes to me like a Bitter blended with a Porter.

Gorgeous fruity caramel aroma. Looks more like a dark ale than a porter which was surprising. Fruity tasting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
