500ml bottle. Smoky smell with hints of coco. Nearly black in appearance with an off white head. The taste is bitter, malty, treacle, chocolate, caramel and coffee. The mouth feel is heavy and thick even slightly chewy you could say. Overall a good example of the style and woth a try.

Bottle. Unpoured. Scent is light caramel porter. Taste is lovely caramel notes on porter, quite sugary but backed with at least 40 IBU of complementing bitterness. Finish is dry and a tiny bit soapy. Very good.

500ml bottle. Dark red colour with a thin off white head which laces well. Aroma of caramel and feint smoked cheese. The taste is caramel, cough syrup, some coffee and a light smokiness. A good one.

Clear dark red-brown with a scummy film. Malty and smoky aroma, with a nice rich flavor, with hints of vanilla and peanut brittle. Smooth bodied and quite nice.

Bottle. Ruby. Small white head with beautiful lacing. Mild aroma of british hops with a touch of red berries and sourness. Taste is malts, chocolate, subdued hops and some fruitiness. Low carbonation. Mouthfeel is a little thin and watery. Its alright but I expect something else from a Porter.

Bottle, M&S. Redder in colour than expected, ruby. Slightly sweet, a little fruity, red berries, and a slightly abrasive chocolate malt feel. Somewhere between a fruity bitter and a porter I guess. A bit lacking in depth at 5.5%. Interesting idea, not perfect.

Bottle from M and S. Appearance - dark brown with red chinks. A nice off white head. Nose - chocolate, cream and light roast. Taste - some chocolate bit malt roast is definitely predominantly whats going on. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - Id say this is more like a stout than a porter but maybe the old recipe is the explanation for that.

500 ml Bottle from Mark & Spencer, Luton
Kolor ciemnobrązowy z pięknymi rubinowymi refleksami. Piana ładna, beżowa, wysoka, nieźle okala ścianki szkła. W aromacie klasycznie: kawa, czekolada, ciemne owoce, spora nuta paloności. W smaku mocno czekoladowe, kawowe z ciemnymi owocami. Tekstura lekka w kierunku średniej, lekkie w degustacji. Całkiem przyzwoity angielski porter.

Bottle of 50cl, in a Guinness glass; room-temperature. Dark and red beer, middle clear. The aroma is a coffee one, with a taste of milk-coffee...Usual, with a very little aftertaste.
