Elgoods Brewery, in the heart of the Cambridgeshire Fens, has been in Elgoods family since 1878. To make this special celebration pint, weve used fittingly special ingredients: pale ale malt from Westminstet barley grown on the Sandringham Estate, together with an English hop variety called Sovereign that was bred a decade ago to mark the Queens golden jubilee.

Bottled, 500ml from Marks & Spencer in Banbury. Amber with white head. This is a sweet, flowery beer with an apricot character, skinny and pippy at the same time. A slightly cloying beer along with some forced carbonation. Heavy in the finish. Not sure.

Bottle from M&S. Poured a clear amber, with a white head, which dissipated to a halo. Aroma of berries, vanilla and toffee. Malty flavours, with some grassy hop and peal. Finish was brown sugar, straw and mineral notes.

Bottled 21/04/13. An orange coloured beer which poured with no head. An orangey citrus like note in the nose. Fruity in the mouth with toffee and chocolate and a bit of spicing. I wasnt expecting some of these flavours but Im glad they were there because this was rather good.

Clear bright amber, white spotty head. Taste is malty, sweet, toffee, fudge, spice, tea. Finish has a lot of tea, some hoppy bitterness, apricot, vanilla, sweetness, some dryness. Medium body, discreet carbonation. Weird.

Bottle. Dark golden body, medium head. Aroma has caramelly sweetness and some hops. Taste is malty with plenty of caramel and well balanced hoppiness. Good palate and carbonation. Finish has more toffee and caramel, which I really like.

pivoveskotsku (201) - SCOTLAND - JUN 24, 2012
Surprisingly good. Golden orange/copper colour, nice white foam which hangs around the side of the glass. Aroma is complex, sweet, peach, some kind of honey/butterscotch. Taste is all the above plus a bit of spice. A pretty good beer, with a nice variety of tastes. Reminded me of a more interesting Czech polotmavy. Thanks to my wife for picking it up at M&S Palladium, Praha.

worldbeertaste (1800) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUN 20, 2012
Golden brown with a thin soapy lacy white head. Smells of wheat, peach, caramel, plum. spicy hop. Medium frothy body, prickly carbonation. Taste of apple with caramel and a buiscuit caramel earthy spicy dry peppery finish. Some lime and dark chocolate. More complex than it seems.
