Bottle from M&S. Reddish brown colour, white foam. Nice bittersweet flavours, spicy rye malt, sweetish caramel malts, some fruity hop and a dry finish. Very pleasant. Still don’t get the Black Sheep hate on the site...

Bottle from Marks & Spencer, Halifax. Copper coloured with a very thin head. Has a tasty mix of sweetened malts and rye, with a bitterness attached.

BlackHaddock (8073) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2016
500ml bottle from the Telford M & S: poured into a UK pint sleeve on 15th April 2016. Bronze body, clean and clear: the head a full off-white foam blanket. Hedgerow fruits and malty molasses in both the aroma and taste with a good hop, semi-bitter finish. My sort of uncomplicated English Bitter, taken with a 25 gram packet of Plain Crisps!

GoufCustom (2305) - HONG KONG - MAR 29, 2016

500 ml bottle bought at M&S in Langham Place, Mong Kok.

Clear amber colour; One finger head with crumpety off-white foam which lasts for 3 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and fizzy carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of strong Amber malt, with strong caramel, strong toffee, light red fruits, sugar, biscuits, yeast, light lemon and light grass; Mid to light sweet taste of fair Amber malt, with strong metallic, caramel, light red fruits, floral, molasses notes, spices, dry biscuits, strong lime, strong bitter hops and sharp grass; Mid to light body. Dry, thin but quite slick palate; Mouth Feel is fairly good Amber maltyness in a thin background. Very dry and spicy from the rye. Fair caramel base with very little sweetness and low red fruits. Very biscuity and limey hoppy rounding. Pretty nice!... Hoppiness is light lemon and light grass in nose. Floral, spices, strong lime and strong grass in taste; Bitterness is strong for a lasting, high astringent bitter malty finish; Very dry after taste. Spicy and strong bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one has very rich malty and sweet aroma, and the taste is spot-on Bitter style with fair body, strong caramel, dry and spicy with very strong bitter hoppiness. Very drinkable and I like it!

Bottled, 500ml from Marks & Spencers in Banbury, Oxon. Red amber with white head. There is a slight musty note on opening and pouring, this leads to a sweetish, malty beer, burnt toffee hints and some fruitiness. The sweetness doesn’t really fade with a bubblegum strawberry hint coming in but overall the beer is fine.
