Old Pavilion Pilsner was inspired by Brewmaster Eric Marshalls time as an apprentice brewer in Germany. Crisp and clean with a distinct and pleasurable hop flavor and aroma, Old Pavilion Pilsner is brewed in the North German Pils style. Brewed with American malts, a mixture of American and German hops, and fermented with a German strain of bottom-fermenting lager yeast, this beer is crafted with a deep reverence for one of the worlds most successful beer styles..

Bottle purchased in Kansas - pour is dark gold with a slight haze (quite a bit of sediment in the bottle) - somewhat lively carbonation makes a moderately thick lace - nose is a little sweet, but it is a clean sweetness that compliments the bright, zesty, grassy and lightly citric character of the hops employed - soft carbonation in the mouth - flavor is much less sweet than the nose suggests - starts off with lightly crackery malts, which then make way for quite a dry middle that is full of peppery, grassy hops and moderate mineral note that all works well in the crisp finish - lingering bitterness and dry mineral on the tongue - not perfect, and just slightly off style, but quite a nice pils.

Exceptionally aromatic. Grassy floral and vivid. Cloudy dark gold with nice big head that dissapates to one finger and holds steady. Hoppy with some nice grassy touches from malt. Some fruit shows through and finishes bitter. Very impressive, perhaps a touch hoppy to be session able, but unexpectedly great....

GABF 2011. Clear light gold with a frothy white head. Strong aroma of pilsner malt and subtle saaz. Tastes much the same. Tastes much like any average pilsner. Low body, some herbalness, faintly bitter.

Draft at GABF. Pours a very attractive clear gold with a nice ring of foam. Nose is spicy, firm noble hops and then a burst of pils malt. Really clean and fresh. Hops are distinguishable and nicely balanced with the malt. On tasting, the bitterness is spot on, somewhat sharp and holding the full malt profile in check. Really clean and fresh. Refreshing. Excellent pils.
