Old Pavilion Pilsner was inspired by Brewmaster Eric Marshall’s time as an apprentice brewer in Germany. Crisp and clean with a distinct and pleasurable hop flavor and aroma, Old Pavilion Pilsner is brewed in the North German “Pils” style. Brewed with American malts, a mixture of American and German hops, and fermented with a German strain of bottom-fermenting lager yeast, this beer is crafted with a deep reverence for one of the world’s most successful beer styles..

A: The pour is a slightly cloudy straw color with a fluffy white head. S: Not the most pleasing of noses, I must say. Buttery and skunky with some slight fruit notes that seem to come out of nowhere. T: A hint of skunk, but really a nice sweet fruit quality that sort of saves the beer. A biscuit malt base with a light bitterness and slightly spicy hops. M: The body is on the light side, like you might expect. Highly carbonated, too. D: I liked the flavor a fair amount but the nose was not doing it for me. That said, pretty light and easy to drink.

On tap. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a real nice grassy hop note with a backing light bread note. Flavor begins with notes of bread and grain that is matched by a nice grassy hop note.

GABF 2011. Clear light gold with a frothy white head. Strong aroma of pilsner malt and subtle saaz. Tastes much the same. Tastes much like any average pilsner. Low body, some herbalness, faintly bitter.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2011 Pours a light gold, great foam and lacing .. . light grain and touches of a german style pepperness .. . not not slick + pretty hardy, i would love to try this on tap, really would .. . The Kit-Kat candy bar has the name ’Kit-Kat’ imprinted into the chocolate...that robs you of chocolate! That is a clever chocolate saving technique. I go down to the factory, "You owe me some letters!"
