Old Empire is brewed using Optic malt, a subtle and paler grain that will allow other flavours to come through on the palate. Goldings and Fuggles hops are added to this brew, which is then late hopped with the American Cascade variety for extra hop strength.

Fles. Licht smakende ipa. Niet schokkend tot slap. Daardoor wel goed doordrinkbier. Alles bij elkaar nog redelijk.

Off white frothy head stayed on a highly carbonated dark copper coloured body. Minimal aroma of malt & spices. Medium bodied. Sharp on the palate. Malty to the fore leaving a tangy fruity back of spiced fruits & a bitter aft

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2017 Bought 3 for £5 from local bargain booze. Bit sceptical at first. One of my recent favourite IPAs. Well balanced good flavour. Good white head when poured with medium carbonation. Slight taste of tropical fruits in the aftertaste. Good all round IPA that I could drink all day and is also mildly strong at 5.7%

Bottle, 0.5l. Clear copper pour with two finger frothy off-white head. Good retention, nice lacing on the glass. Nose is grainy and herbal with subtle hop character in the background. Thin to medium body. Average texture, slightly light. Regular carbonation. Moderately bitter taste. Aroma of malts, grains and herbs. Slightly peppery. Good hop presence, a bit earthy with subtle citrus fruitiness. Dry mouthfeel. Finishes dry with some off-placed metal acidity. Overall, not bad. Unspectacular but decent, especially when chilled enough.

Golden color and medium head. Not typical IPA with tropical fruit. Nevertheless some sweet fruits of pear and seeds. Not strong aroma but good and refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Tesco, Enniskillen [210417]
Amver, clear, frothy white head, light lacing
Aroma of slight citrus, dab of minerals, light sweet caramel malts, soft fruits
Taste of soft caramel malt, light citrus, soft fruits, some twiggy bitter hops, quite spicy, dab of bitter minieral, fairly complex, rich flavour
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, light bitter. Finish is more bitter spicy, dab of zest some sweet caramel malt
Overall - Better than expected, mineraly and spicy flavours work well together

Date: 29.05.2017 Bottle, valid until 30.04.2018 Mediocre. Weak grassy aroma. Taste wasn’t bad, but not good enough to actually enjoy it.

Quizas algo insipida para ser una IPA. Color ambar oscuro, intenso. Corona blanca con fuerza. Una presencia muy bonita tanto la etiqueta como la botella.
