Old Empire is brewed using Optic malt, a subtle and paler grain that will allow other flavours to come through on the palate. Goldings and Fuggles hops are added to this brew, which is then late hopped with the American Cascade variety for extra hop strength.

500ml bottle. Pours clear amber with a small off-white head. Very mild aroma with nothing much to pick out. Moderate malt, a good amount of hops and a long, quite intense bitter finish. Pretty smooth. Not complex but really pretty good. Certainly better than expected.

Flaske via DjOeye. Aroma eple, sitrus, malt. Utseende klar orange til gylden med hvitt skum. Smak Malt, humle, eple, bittersøt, fruktig i ettersmaken. En mild og fruktig ipa, ikke veldig bitter.

Recommended to me by Mole. Dissapointing on the nose, nothing really there ex pet damp. The por is OK, slightly foamy head. That’s about it. Tastes are all dull, something sweet which could be a spoonfulll of sugar. Dry finish. No life, no zest, no thanks.

Kolor zloty. Piana wysoka drobmopechezykowa szybko znika. Wyrazny owocowy aromat. Srednio nasycenie . Srednai goryczka. W tle czuc slod.przyjemne piwo nie jakiego szalu we ale spokojnie mozna wypic.

Maltig, metallisk doft. Typisk för billig öl. Helt renons på friska humlearomer. Bara en gräs- och jordaktig doft. Klar, trevlig bärnstensfärg men nästan utan skumhuvud. Förvånansvärt stor smak ändå men verkligen inget särskilt. Lätt rostad malt, lite kola, men utan humlekaraktär. Massproducerad och opersonlig ipa. Torr avrundning och en kort eftersmak.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Silja Symphony, 20161023) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had toffee and earth. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were toffee, grass, earth, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, hoppy and bitter. A nice hoppy bitter.

0.5 bottle. Pours golden/amber color with medium, mostly diminishing white head. Aroma of malt, hops with a touch of fruitiness, biscuits. Flavor is light medium sweet, medium to heavy bitter, somewhat biscuity. Smooth and drinkable. Medium long roasted finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. The only thing I didn’t got, is why did they print the IPA word on the cover?

Bottle, 550 ml,bought in London. Marketed as an ipa, this is, quite rightly, more of a bitter than anything else: smooth, clear and with a distinct taste of alcohol. Extremely little fruit, scant hops. Not my cup of tea but fair enough, I guess.

Aroma; fruity rounded herbal malt character, dark fruity leafy hops to the nose, maybe a small caramel note, all in all a very straight clean aroma. Look; off white modest foam, clear deep golden body. Taste; hops, crystal barley malts, herbs, grapefruit peel, "crystal grain" - leading to a fruity hoppy finish. Feel; clean, easy, natural co2. Overall; quality IPA, a true british one, very british. [50cl.btl 5.7% BB.28APR17 #B6088]
