Cask @ Fat Cat, Norwich. Hazy dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dark fruit, heavy buttery and light balsamico. Flavor is quite sweet and light sour. Sweet and light sour finish. Really nasty and clearly not what the brewer intended. 180217 fiulijn (20492) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 5, 2004

Dark color. Caramel nose; sweet liquorice taste, malty. Easy, not complex, but pleasant to drink.

Dark color with ruby hue. Too light aroma. Malty taste but simple.
500ml bottle from Cask & Glass, Tonbridge, the best offy in East Kent. BBE Dec 07. Rich ruby colour with thin beige head. Not sure what I expected from this. Syrupy malt with some peppery hop aroma. Rich fruit. However in the mouth you can still tell that it is pasteurised due to that awful candy sugar, boiled sweet flavour. Raisiny malt finish is good, nice fruit and a decent hop presence. Fine beer for the winter, the alcohol doesn’t make it harsh, so it does show some adeptness. Like GarethYoung I thought that it was a bit empty in the palate. saxo (18300) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - JAN 22, 2012

Dark red ruby, steady brown creamy head. Nose is chocolaty barley, very Jacobite Ale -like. Medium to full bodied, typical Old Ale: toffeeish, barley flavor, some roast and alcoholic touch. Well-balanced.

Fruity sweet beer. Old sourness, wooden oaky richness. Strongly apple - apple taste and apple smell. Brown and sweet and delicious in a very well-balanced way. MiP (15667) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - OCT 23, 2008
Bottle, 7.6%. Peppery and creamy aroma. Very dark brown colour, clear and with a chestnut shine. Good sweet flavour, quite peppery, quite malty. Very nice and actually well-balanced in spite of the strength. DSG (14784) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - APR 7, 2013
Bottle sample at a tasting at my place. Thanks kerenmk. Deep ruby red color. Aroma of dusty stale-tasting malt, some caramel and light fruity notes. Sweet malty and caramelly flavor, a bit sugary, with candy hints and light fruitiness. Medium-bodied. imdownthepub (14552) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - SEP 10, 2003
Bottled, Pateurised. Dark red beer with thick chunky lasting head. Lovely smooth rich treacely flavours, almost port wine like, red grapes and plums, sweet malts, a very decent bottled beer (brown bottle!!!) Borup (14477) - Albertslund, DENMARK - SEP 27, 2006
