Easily the best tasting real ale I tried in my 2 trips to England and I tried quite a few. Fruity and smooth. I only wish it was available in Canada. There are a number of English real ales to be had here but none can come close.

Something has probably turned really wrong here. Infected I suppose. Lots of butter and vinegar. As you surely understand, not meant for human consumption.

Draught at Fat Cat in Norwich, shared with friends. Dark brown body. Dissipating beige head. Dark fruity nose with hints of vinegar. Toffee and dark jam-like flavours partially overrun by vinegar. Gone? (18.02.2017).

Cask @ Fat Cat, Norwich. Hazy dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dark fruit, heavy buttery and light balsamico. Flavor is quite sweet and light sour. Sweet and light sour finish. Really nasty and clearly not what the brewer intended. 180217

Bottle. Dark Red Brown. Mega-malty, roasty malts, burnt toffee, caramel, molasses. Dark fruits, raisins, plums. Tasty, malty, very fruity, sweet, full-bodied strong ale. Long dry malty finish. Fine. (2008)

50cl bottle. Beer is dark brown, almost canít see through. The head is small and disappears quickly. Aroma is very delicate and light .... Mostly chocolate and dark fruits. The body is oily and creamy and the carbonation small. It has a quite pleasant mouthfeel. Taste is not super intensive. Mild with medium sweetness and delicate bitter finish. Nothing super interesting apart the hidden alcohol.

Second bottle purchased and another with an ill-fitting cap on the bottle. Poured flat with minimal head and the barest carbonation. Taste was strong-sweet, slightly sickly, typical strong ale, almost a barley wine but not as heady. Marstonís need to check their bottling process - I canít be the only person who has experienced two flat bottles in as many weeks. Disappointing.

From bottle pours very dark, almost like a porter and thing beige head. Aroma is strong sticky brown sugar, stewed fruits like plumb, dates and a tough of fig, with roasted nuts. Taste is strong sweet but nicely balanced by roasted malt and hoppy bitterness. A little watery yet sticky as far as texture goes. Overall pretty damn nice!

Bottle fom B&M Bargains. Pours deep chestnut with a thin cream head. Toasty malt aroma. The taste has light spice with a liquorice and aniseed giving it a bit of a cough syrup taste. Quite decent.

Pours opaque chestnut with a fair buff head. Malty and fruity aroma invites a taste. Fruity, malty, caramel flavor is quite pleasing. Mouthfeel presents firm body and good fizz. Rodger dodger, a good one.
