Absolutely solid performer. Almost a Stout beer - and definitely full of malts. I love this beer, the strength almot undiscernible due to the quality of flavours.. adv (22) - Milan, ITALY - APR 14, 2003
Strong and well balanced. A glorious example of the most traditional English ales! MiP (16054) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - OCT 23, 2008
Bottle, 7.6%. Peppery and creamy aroma. Very dark brown colour, clear and with a chestnut shine. Good sweet flavour, quite peppery, quite malty. Very nice and actually well-balanced in spite of the strength. richc (239) - Bolton, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2012
Aroma is malty with a hint of tart cherry and a bunch of dark fruit. Fig and raisin perhaps. There is a touch of warming alcohol as well.
Head disappeared very fast.
The combination of taste and aroma is great, the aroma is backed by chocolate and sweetness balanced with a touch of clean bitterness.
Palette is viscous and almost chewy
Over all this is a great beer, I wish it was easier to get hold of.

Intensely rich. Very nice beer. Fruity and strong flavour. Not much alcohol. Very tastey indeed. Lovely mouth feel. ralphdot (1093) - Billingham, Durham, ENGLAND - JAN 19, 2012
