Nothing much to it, not foul but bland and goes down slowly. Off putting aroma BeerCast_Rich (1906) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 15, 2010
[cask at the Standing Order, Edinburgh] Dark amber ale with a decent head, apparently brewed exclusively for Wetherspoon’s. Aromas of sweet malt, toffee and some spices. Strong alcohol tastes mix well with the hops, and a further spicy fruitiness comes out on the finish. Pretty good stuff madmitch76 (25101) - , Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 8, 2009
April 2008. Lovely rich sumptuos malty depth. However there is balance here as well. chriso (7583) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 18, 2009
Cask (handpump) at Knights Templar (JDW), April 2008. Attractive clearamber colour with a thin off-white head and lively condition. Restrained aroma with touches of resinous hop. No discernible sulphur. Full deep bitterness on the palate. Bittersweet mouthfeel with a flinty, chalky, slightly mineral character. Nicely balanced mix of raisiny malt and spicy hop. I thought this was very good, perhaps surprisingly so.

Handpulled cask at JDW Watford. A beefed up version of an old favourite. Interesting but not as good as the origional!

Cask, The Lord Keeper of the Great Seal, Oadby. Amber with a dense cream head. Aromas are sweet toffee with spiced oranges. Hints of sulphur and some woodiness. Flavours are sweet toffee and caramel with spices and sulphur. Soft, sweet spiced oranges with alcohol. Like "Peddy" but with more spices and alcohol. A Mes rate: Cask at Baker St ’Sporks.berkshirejohn (6588) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - APR 10, 2008
Hazy orange amber with a thin white head and lots of lace. Metallic hop aroma with some slight earthy malt. Flavour is thick and sweet with some lingering alcohol at the back of the palate. Lots of sweet fruity notes. Fairly sickly malt. Not bad but not that great either.
Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Amber with a ring of white head; tropical fruit flavours, lychee and pineapple, but not over sweet, slightly harsh alcoholic edge; leaves a smooth and sweet aftertaste with some underlying bitterness. JDW - Rodboro Buildings, Guildford. A smoother and stronger Pedigree - good hop and malt merge - but this doesn’t stand out. DonMagi (5593) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 3, 2008
Cask in the counting house. Aroma is sulphury, pale and richer malts, peppery. Taste is similar the sulphur goes well with the malt, decent one.
