COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - Summer.
A light coloured beer brewed from best Pale malt with a touch of wheat to give fullness to the palate. A striking bitter hop flavour is there to counter the fullness of the wheat. A late addition of Cascade hop to the kettle compliments this ale with a hint of cirtus.

Cask (handpump) at the Museum Tavern, Bloomsbury. More golden amber than pure blonde. Restrained aroma with hints of citrus. Didn’t get any signature Marstons sulphur, which would have been unwelcome in a golden ale. Moderately hoppy flavour, again with citrus to the fore. Perhaps the cascades do make a faint impression but the citrus is more lemon than grapefruit. Crisp & clean and served in good condition (albeit through a sparkler). Tart bitterenss lingers in the aftertaste. Straightforward but surprisingly decent - no doubt sets out to be refreshing and achieves that.

Golden colour with a fair amount of head. Didn’t have that rather nasty sulpherous smell that some of the other Marstons beers have. Quite a nice, floral aroma and a fresh taste, a little lower on hops than the avarage blonde beer, which was a nice change, a good malt, fruity sweetness balanced it quite well.

State bar. Apparently has just been put on, and tasted noteably fresh. However looked more muddy and mirky than the end of a cask of addelstons. A bit cold so near no aroma. Taste is well balanced honey and fresh grassy hop with hints of lime. Nice beer but soo increadibly mirky.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Jumping on the US hop blonde beer bandwagon. Gold colour, thick cream head. Slight burton snatch aroma. Citrus hops too. Pretty good condition in the mouth. Then US hop finish, so not surprised it says it has Cascades. It’s fine and perfect for summer.

A Sim rate (Cask at the Gatehouse): It’s ok but my general indifferance towards English hoppy blondes explains the mediocre rate. Aroma and flavour are very hoppy. Flavour is even too much hops. Palate is runny. Not a great beer.

Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW). Bedford. Served at just about the right temperature. Gold with a small white head. Grassy hop aroma with a definite whiff of sulphur. Citrus taste with a grainy background. Some bitterness. Pretty ordinary golden.

Good blonde too. Very yeasty flavour like other MAsrton’s, interesting taste.

<!-- b -->Aug<!-- /b --> Cask conditinoed @ Hymble Plumb, Soton. Sulphurous yeast and light body. The yeast doesnt complement the fresher citrus flavours of a golden ale, but then again the malts a bit heavy handed for my taste as well.

JonMoore (2067) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 3, 2006
Cask handpump at the Swan in the Rushes, Loughborough. Clear golden with a slim white head. Sulphur aroma, (a bit like Pedigree use to have before they staring mucking about with it some years back, ruining a great beer), Citrus, malty and bitter taste. Not very well put together however, one was enough.

davegore (223) - liverpool, Merseyside, ENGLAND - AUG 24, 2006
cask at the crows nest, crosby, liverpool. very much one dimentional, lots of citrus on the nose, pretty much overpowered by lemon tang and really the same. bright golden colour and a fluffy white head, good lacing right down the glass too. heaps of bitterness on the finish but nothing really enough to keep interest, fairly dull
