1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Amber with a thick frothy white head. Smells of light citrus, malt and some grassy hops. Medium oily body. Tastes plain, thin and dull. Sweet Malt with a sour citrus. Both the nose and the taste suffer from the poor pasteurisation. A poor bitter that was not made with love.
Bottle, 500ml from B&M Bargains. Gold with thin head, carbonated. Thin, caramelised, boiled malt notes from the start, slightly honeyed. Tended to forget that this was supposed to show off the Goldings hops, not really. Quite poor. BlackHaddock (7410) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2013
500ml bottle BBD of 30 Jun 2013: poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 25 May 2013.
Really enjoyed this, my second bottle of ’Goldings’.
Pours a golden blonde colour with a slight haze: on top a good white head with retension.
The aroma follows the label to the letter: there is a spicy, honey and caramel smell from the beer, the taste also has those three attributes with the beer being sweeter than most UK Bitters in both aspects (I have a fairly sweet tooth, so this is too my liking).
Good body depth and feel to the brew: all in all a fine beer and the best in the ’Single Hop’ series for me so far. zacgillbanks (5288) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - APR 21, 2013
Bottle from b&m Blaydon. Hazy golden coloured with toffee, caramel, honey and fruity flavours with a bitter, slight nutty finish. DruncanVeasey (8239) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2013
99p bottles from B&M. Lightly fogged gold with a dense skim of foam. Resinous, sappy, fresh mown aroma. Piney, grassy, junipery hop taste with minimal malt distraction- biscuit crumbs. Good lengthy bitterness. Marstons flirtation with brewing decent beer continues to impress. Whatever next? Martin243 (1199) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - MAR 27, 2013
500ml bottle served in a chalice. Murky gold, off white head Grass and cow field aroma. Floral flavour with a bit of a strange perfumed note. There is honey and caramel there as per blurb, but the merest hint, which doesn’t raise it above a fairly nice light bitter. Enjoyed the Marynka and Sovereign from this range more.

500ml bottle. Pours cloudy amber with a small head. Very little aroma to speak of. A little spice, a decent amount of hops for what isn’t a million miles away from a layered beer. There’s a touch of honey, a slight soapiness and a moderately bitter finish. Certainly nothing exceptional but a perfectly decent and refreshing light ale that would be perfect for a warm afternoon. ralphdot (1094) - Billingham, Durham, ENGLAND - MAR 9, 2013
4.0% amber colour with a thin head, unpleasant aroma, bitter dry citrus hop taste. ianwelby (1427) - SCOTLAND - MAR 2, 2013
Golden beer with a touch of fizz and a light, frothy head. Very mild hoppy aroma. Taste is hoppy of course, though not overpowering and there are some hints of fruit as well. Not overwhelmingly nice but quite pleasant though somehow it seems less than the sum of it’s parts. joe19612 (2964) - camberley, Surrey, ENGLAND - OCT 14, 2012
Bottle from Morrisons. Pours a dark yellow color with a medium sized head, dull citrus aroma, the taste is bitter and sour with citrus again, with a sweet finish.
