Tasted this in The Last Post, Paisley (JDW) in April 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear amber in colour with a thin white head. Strong sulphurous notes in the short aroma instantly recalling Bass. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a digestive biscuit base with herbal tea and cabbage notes. Strong eggy flavours with the hop resins easily dry the tongue. Finish is rather weak and insipid with dry grassy notes and little else. A poor session Golden Ale and one to avoid. madmitch76 (25009) - , Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 8, 2009
3rd April 2008. Light bitter with a JHB citrusy flavour but just too watery and light. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - JUL 30, 2009
Cask Handpump at the Square Bottle JDW, Chester 05/04/2008
Floral and malt aromas. Amber coloured smooth on the palate and a little hoppy with a crisp and slightly bitter full malt finish. bobinlondon (1297) - Harrow, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 9, 2008
Handpulled cask at JDW Watford. Where’s the Marston’s aroma? The beer’s in good nick but this is so bland that it does not deserve description. leaparsons (10613) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2008
Cask, The Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Golden and orange with a small head. Aromas are spices oranges with oranges and biscuit malts. Flavours are dry and fruity with tea. Some citrus but a bit flat overall. Dry on the finish.

Cask at JDW, The Penny Black, Bicester, Oxon 12-04-08 The nose is quite seweragey which isn’t a great start, although this looks quite good warm golden with tiny thin white head. There is bitterness there but its a bit messy, quite mellow and merely ok. reakt (950) - Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2008
Cask @ Crosse Keys ’Sporks, Gracechurch St. Clear gold with a forced white head. I found it very lagerish, grainy and metallic with pukey malt/card and sulphur in the aroma. Ok, fair enough, there were some slight grassy hops but not nearly enough to redeem it. Taste was pretty much the same and most certainly not my thing... berkshirejohn (6533) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - APR 4, 2008
Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Gold with a thin cream head; grainy aroma; slightly sour and grainy taste with a touch of citrus and a short bitter finish. Rather ordinary. hughie (3996) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 2, 2008
Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford, in Wetherspoons Real Ale Festival. Dark gold with a small white head. This really did not impress. Sulphur in the aroma. Taste had something horribly artificial and medicinal. Didn’t bother to check what it was. DonMagi (5593) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 2, 2008
Cask in counting house. Aroma gives suprisingly no sulphur, nutty pale malts, citrus and grass. Taste is similar light and drinkable, biscuity in the finish.
