Unclear medium brown amber color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, nutty, caramel. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, licorice notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
On tap at the Brewpub.
12/11/11/11//11 fiulijn (21516) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 9, 2011
Draught at the brauhausBov (13354) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - DEC 12, 2016
Beautiful dark amber color; creamy, beige head. Light aroma of roasted malt, simple. The flavor is better supported by some good malt and caramel, then some roasted malt; the mouthfeel is overall quite dry, with more roasted malt in the end; the bitterness is well pronounced. Quite good, but nothing special.

- light hazy brown beer with a beige foam left; the aroma is buttery and shyly toasted malty with faint notes of biscuits; quite thin-bodied, poor ly tasty and with a low bitterness; short and shyly malty finish with more buttery tones
On tap. Pours a chestnut color with nice head. Malty and bready with caramell notes. Fin (11069) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 20, 2010
Had this on tap at the Brewpub in Freiburg, Germany, 13-06-10 Pours murky brown with an off-white head. This is a bit fruity in the mouth but soft and big malty flavour’s show through. A very slight sourness at the edges and a steak of fruitiness coming through, not great but also not bad. A6 A4 F6 P3 Ov13 3.2 MartinT (10155) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 29, 2011
My Bottom Line : daniele (9888) - ITALY - AUG 18, 2014
Subtle caramel and toast adorn this velvety Dunkel, an entirely malty profile which quickly veers into watery territory in the second half of each sip.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sturdy head of foam laces beautifully atop the stunning reddish-brown. Superb visuals on this one. A superb appearance for a rather forgettable brew.
-Cherries are suggested in the nose. Or is that my piece of Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte coming from the other end of the dining room?
-I would prefer more malt flavors in my Dunkel. Many are suggested, but they remain distant. This flavor profile definitely lacks depth. At least it’s very clean, not like some buttery Dunkels that tend to pop up here and there in lieu of authentic caramel malt flavors.
-Hops are pretty much a no-show.
-That is one silent finish…

0.3 Litre, tall glass at the BrewPub on 11th Sep 2013.
Good looking brew, golden brown with a deep beige head that produced some heavy lacing.
Malty, semi-sweet nose: caramel and toffee notes with a slight yeast hint.
The taste wasn’t as sweet as the aroma suggested, this was well balanced and a pleasant surprise. The dry finish had a mild nut feel.
The best of the three beers I had while at the BrewPub.
