a very strange dunkel. When I ordered this I was expecting a german wheat dunkel but this was a dark lager. Coca-Cola like appearance with a nice head. Aroma was fruity and the taste was very malty, some spices and hops. A bit watery though but a really nice brew

Aroma is nutty roast, with a hint of toasted bread on top of sweet malt. Med reddish brown, clear with a small creamy head. Med carbonation Relatively thin in taste predominately roast malt character with a sprinkling of spicy hop hotes. It goes down easy and finishes dry with lingering carbonic bite and nutty aftertaste.

0.3 Litre, tall glass at the BrewPub on 11th Sep 2013. Good looking brew, golden brown with a deep beige head that produced some heavy lacing. Malty, semi-sweet nose: caramel and toffee notes with a slight yeast hint. The taste wasn’t as sweet as the aroma suggested, this was well balanced and a pleasant surprise. The dry finish had a mild nut feel. The best of the three beers I had while at the BrewPub.

[on tap at brewpub] Nutty aroma with some apple sort of like a brown ale with German hops--citrusy and floral. Almost clear brown with a lasting, beige top. Sweet and nutty flavour with some apple and brown sugar. Perfect balance of sweet and bitter. Subtle citrusy hops as well as biscuits in the flavour. Medium body, medium carbonation, nutty finish.

[email protected] Palpably hq natural ingredients make this nutty, roasted Dunkel, that almost tastes more like a dark, hop-flower infused Keller, into another tasty option besides their hop-forward Pils. Bread crust malt aromatics meet lively enough hops: straightforward and as solid a Dunkel you can get this side of Franconia.

Beautiful dark amber color; creamy, beige head. Light aroma of roasted malt, simple. The flavor is better supported by some good malt and caramel, then some roasted malt; the mouthfeel is overall quite dry, with more roasted malt in the end; the bitterness is well pronounced. Quite good, but nothing special.

Unclear medium brown amber color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, nutty, caramel. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, licorice notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100929]

My Bottom Line :
Subtle caramel and toast adorn this velvety Dunkel, an entirely malty profile which quickly veers into watery territory in the second half of each sip.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sturdy head of foam laces beautifully atop the stunning reddish-brown. Superb visuals on this one. A superb appearance for a rather forgettable brew.
-Cherries are suggested in the nose. Or is that my piece of Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte coming from the other end of the dining room?
-I would prefer more malt flavors in my Dunkel. Many are suggested, but they remain distant. This flavor profile definitely lacks depth. At least it’s very clean, not like some buttery Dunkels that tend to pop up here and there in lieu of authentic caramel malt flavors.
-Hops are pretty much a no-show.
-That is one silent finish…

On tap at the brewery. Dark cola brown witih a tan, fizzy head. Mostly malty flavor, but had enough hops for balance. Mouthfeel was good, not as carbonated as head indicated, but taste was a little watery.
