GBBF. Cask. Clear dark brown ale. Smooth softish palate. Light creamy malt with a pleasant touch of light fruits. Finishes creamy and mild. A pleasant little Christmas Beer.
Cask (Jan 2010) Red-brown with a good sized head. Citrus and some spices in the nose. Quite thin and dry. Very fruity; mainly grapes but not much in the mouth after a few sips. chriso (7536) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 27, 2010
Cask (handpump) at the Great British Beer Festival, Day 1, August 2009. Not sure what a Christmas beer is doing at a festival in August. Is it a barrel from last Christmas? Or is it this years brew that would spend some time in the barrel before the official release. Or have they simply made it out of season specially for GBBF. It’s a mid copper coloured beer with the emphasis on caramel and a slightly sweet mouthfeel. Maybe some very subtle spices but not enough to evoke much reaction (I’m not a big fan of heavy spicing) or generate much interest. OK but a bit dull.
