On tap @ Duncansville. Pours a dark brown, almost black body with a wispy brown head. Nice roasty nose with a good bit of coffee. Great roasty and coffee flavor, with a burnt malt finish. A little bit watery in the mouthfeel with moderate soft carbonation. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 17, 2007

Draft. Pours deep, dark brown with thin beige head; good retention and some lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, smoke, coffee, earty hops, and dark chocolate. Flavor is heavy roasted, coffee, and chocolate malts, light dark fruit esters, and light earthy hops; earthy/woody notes throughout with a dry finish. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth. cheap (6016) - Beaver Valley, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 12, 2007
UPDATED: JUL 5, 2008 On tap at the Marzoni’s in Allison Park, nice place. This beer’s appearance is simply delectable and attractive. Thick rolling rich black opaque used shovel head oil. Has chocolate mousse for a head but the head fades rapidly. Good roasty stout aroma. Very stoutlike initial taste. It comes across like you’ve filtered your beer thru the wet coals of an old wood campfire. I would think this was more like a sweet stout if I didn’t look at the style. Friendly and flat for the most part. Perhaps that is why it is listed as dry stout, very little if any carbonation. Overall a decent brew that deserves accolades. Creamy and dark. Has some medium lingering bitterness on the back of the throat like meat that has been burnt on the grill. Overall, a very good example of a dark beer. Not quite as good as Troegs Oatmeal but right up there with other good dry stouts like Carlow Ohara.

Pours black from tap with a small brown head. Nice chocolate and coffee notes on the nose. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Nice roasted notes on the tongue. Finishes clean. MrChopin (4304) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 31, 2009
On tap at brewery. Dark brown with a tan head. Faintly green nose mainly of fudge, also light coffee and alcohol. The flavor has less chocolate, more roasted malt, and exhibits an odd green plant note, almost pine-like. The body is way too silky and thin for the large flavors, so this could use some boosting. Still, I liked it. Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 14, 2004
UPDATED: JUN 23, 2007 Roasted bitter coffee, milk chocolate, and light hops. Sweet and malty aroma. Dark brown-black with off-tan head. Medium watery body with smooth carbonation. Starts with light sweetness and medium acidity. Finish is sour bitter, roasty, with nice notes of chocolate and bitter roast coffee. Nicely hopped. After is medium bitter. A nice dry stout. On tap at Marzonis in Allison Park. Not a very good dry stout at all. Pour was the best thing about it. A dark black with a 2 finger tan head. I saw that and thought, "Wow, this will be good".Nope. Aroma was decent. Coffeee and roasted malt. Taste was very weak. Carbonation was nil. It’s like this beer changed to water mid swallow. There was a very bitter roasted malt/hop aftertaste which helped. All in all not good.
