On tap at the brewpub. Pours a very deep brown colored body with a thin, creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is sweeter roasts with some dark chocolate, a touch of licorice, and a good amount of coffee. Some oatmeal and a bit of a lactose sweetness with a few dark fruits as well. Flavor is similar. Lots of coffee and roasts up front with a bit of a lactose sweetness and some chocolate and oatmeal with a few dark fruits. Finishes dry with some roasts and a light bitterness as well as some lactose and chocolate sweetness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a medium-light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid stout. Flavorful and well balanced. Not bad at all. puzzl (3258) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 19, 2010
Perfectly cocoa aroma, nice barley, chalk, peanut. Love it. Nice carbonic flavor, marshmallow, a smidgen of sweet lactose. Charcoal. Very dry. Excellent traditional stout. TheJester (2542) - Cavan Monaghan, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 3, 2016
Bottle from the restaurant beside my hotel. Typical colour but not much head. Roasty aroma. And coffee. Soft, lactose-y body. Not so much roast here. Good, though.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours black with ruby edges and an eternal tan head that leaves excellent lacing. The aroma is very roasty with lots of fresh coffee notes, some chocolate, and even a very vague vanilla-y bourbon hint. The flavor is dark caramel and coffee at first, then gets nutty in the middle and leads to a sweet finish. Silky mouthfeel. illinismitty (2271) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 1, 2008
Draft at Allison Park. Pours black with a quickly dissipating head. Faint aroma of dark roasted malts. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Flavor of dark roasted malts, molasses, and old coffee. Finish is dry, slightly thin, with a small hint of tangyness. Rather simple, but not offensive by any means. The assistant brewer was screwing around and filtered some through some coffee grounds, turning it into a fresh breakfast stout. It brought some over for me to dry and it was rather interesting.

Aroma of chocolate and coffee, ebony color not much of a head. Taste of coffee and chocolate. Watery feel with a phenolic finish. zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 19, 2010
tap @ Marzoni’s - arouma is roasty, chocolate, espresso. Body is a bit disappointingly thin. Dark and malty with some coffee bitter. Smooth and tasty. mike5326 (1754) - virginia beach, Virginia, USA - AUG 9, 2014

Sampler at the Allison Park location, 02.03.08 (Super Bowl Sunday). Tar, tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, pine, caramel, anise. Flavor is the same with smoke and roasted nuts. Nice creamy, dry finish. Thus far, my favorite Marzoni’s beer.
