500 ml. bottle. Clear amber solour, no head at all. Smell of molasses, fruits, spices and I’d swear I detect some hints of tobacco. Light body, too sweet palate with a very weak carbonation. Taste of dark fruits, molasses and the hint of tobacco. Another Mateo & Bernabé beer that does not worth the price you pay., IMO.

Bottle 33cl, a cloudy copper beer with low head. Nose is on ripped fruits and belgian yeast, taste is sweet with astringent finish. Aroma is on grain, caramel, sweet barley sugar, belgian yeast, light spices, yes dried apricot is there, light wild / brett background, finish on candied fruits and sugar.

onceblind (9663) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 23, 2017
Cloudy dark copperish amber with a fast fading head. Light belgianish figgy dates on the nose with a sweet dark Belgian malt tone. Semisweet malty dates and raisin flavors with a smooth malty Belgian body. Pretty plain but alright.

Bottle 50 cl from Amstein - St-Légier (CH). Foggy coppery reddish with an ochre head and fierce sparkling. Intense fruity aroma, caramel, plum and spices cinnamon and nutmeg. The taste is sweet, velvety but a little soft. There are notes of prune and dried apricot, spices and a hop which moderates the sweetness in the spreading.

Bottle at Oporto in Midtown. Hazy dark amberish and light lacing off-white head. Aroma of caramel and Belgian yeast; mild. Yeasty, slightly bitter flavor. Dry and medium bodied.

wombat23 (1417) - Texas, USA - OCT 29, 2016
Shared 500ml bottle. Best by 9/30/2016. Hazy copper, white head. Aroma of malt, spice, and fruit. Taste malt, nutmeg, cinnamon, fruit, sugar. Overall, taste is rather strange and unpleasant. Drank about 3 weeks after best-by date, but don’t think that probably made much difference...

Aroma: dry and spicy with some nutmeg and ginger; Appearance: murky dark amber with billowy white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: follows nose with additional maltiness and apple juice flavors; Palate: medium body with long, malty finish; Overall: definitely different, but not appealing. Would not get again.

500 ml bottle with mini-booklet bought at Jon’s Jamon’s booth at HKCEC in Wan Chai during HKTDC Food Expo 2016.

Cloudy amber colour with a cloud of misty yeast particles; Three-quarter finger head with crumpety white foam which laste for 90 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with notable small carbonation; Fragment aroma of malt, with caramel, cinnamon, strong peppercorn, thin dark fruits, light floral, molasses, bread, yeast, light lemon and light grass; Close to medium sweet taste of amber malt, with caramel, light red fruits, peppercorn, floral, molasses, spices, herbs, yeast, lemon, moderate bitter hops and light grass; Medium body. Very slick palate; Mouth feel is strong Amber Ale maltyness in a thick background. Very English ale like with strong red fruits backbone. Moderate caramel with notable sweetness plus black peppercorn, quite spicy and herbal but not as strong as the aroma suggest. Yeasty with fair lemon to round. Pretty good!... Hoppiness is light floral, light lemon and light grass in nose, same in taste but stronger with herbs; Bitterness is moderate for a lasting, medium astringent spicy malty finish; Fairly dry after taste. Malty spicy and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one tastes a lot like a strong Amber Ale fused with spices, notably peppercorn. Whereas the aroma has an extra dimension of cinnamon. Taste-wise it’s sweet malty with pepper, herbs and fair hoppiness all the way. More English than Belgian, quite decent and enjoyable!

I bought this beer at Amstein and I drank it relax at home with this beautiful day. The color is brown-orange, when you pours it, there is a huge brown and white foam. Middle-high carbonation and the taste is typical from the Belgianale, sparkling, sour, malty, sugar, some hop, pleasant with a dry final note at the tongue and one side of alcohol, good one.
