An great beer from a great brewer. Hoppy with cleansing taste. Very easy to drink!! Hop_Hedonist (614) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - AUG 21, 2013
Great to have a large commercial brewery making a good APA. And great to have this in the pubs. Nice hoppy brew. But how this won best beer at this years Int Melb Beer Fest is kinda unbelievable. Feral’s Hop Hog which won the last 2 yrs is so much better. But on the whole, for a pub beer this is excellent! DuffMan (10549) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 5, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2005 From the bottle-- looks fantastic! Clear bright orange, foamy white head with extensive lacing. Very aromatic floral and grapefruit aromas. Delicious palate of solid malt with big flowery hop character and a grapefruit-peel bitter finish. There is a definite toasty element too that cuts through the mild sweetness of the palate. Very well balanced and endlessly drinkable! Definitely Matilda Bay’s best offering-- even better than Dogbolter, and that is saying something! Worth seeking out. Mattburns (114) - USA - MAY 18, 2010
I was serverly hooked on this beer for sometime. I love the aroma. That was my first love. Then it was the taste. You can spend a night on this one and never look away. highlandlad (1480) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - OCT 13, 2005
UPDATED: JUN 26, 2007 Waited ages for this to turn up in Sydney. It was worth the wait, as this is surely Matilda Bay’s best beer. It looked great in the glass: classic APA burnt orange with a tall head that lasted well and laced beautifully. Great floral aroma combining caramel, violets, mango and grapefruit. Very much to style - all hops. Nice rounded palate, perfectly carbonated. Chewy toffee is the first impression on the tongue with a middle dominated by tangy pink grapefruit and succeeded by a late bitter hop push. To me, this seems like the closest thing Oz has to a genuine US-style APA with its mix of toffee and citrus. Over the past couple of years it has developed into my favourite local APA, over Little Creatures. Kudos to Matilda Bay for this. (345ml bottle, Liquor on Parade, bb21/1/06)

Possibly a good batch?
Thick luscious malts, and crisp american hops through aroma a palate, much maltier than I recall previously, Kick’s Little Creatures butt! kearnsy (68) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 27, 2008
Bottle 345ml. Poured deep gold with off white head that lasted the beer out. Classic APA cascde hop aroma of tropical fruits and grass backed with sweet biscuity and caramel malts. Taste was bitter and of orange and mango. Finsh somewhat dry and light. Very well balanced, maybe a touch more bittering at the end to finsih it off. Excellent beer (but not the price). kenbeer (46) - , AUSTRALIA - JUL 11, 2009
Have had this beer many times and not been impressed, but for some unknown reason i bought another bottle and ...WOW. Big woody and piney hop nose from a copper coloured beer with good foam and just the right amount of caramel malt balance. Not sure why past bottles had been so bland... perhaps it has been a freshness issue given the pricing on a 6 pack. emayer4322 (7) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 6, 2011 does not count
UPDATED: JUL 7, 2011 Pours amber with creamy off-white head. Citrus and herbal aroma. Taste is malt up front, hoppy throughout, with a bitter, earthy finish. A highly hopped American Pale Ale. Brenhophead (695) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUL 5, 2012
345mL bottle. Pours deep golden with a wonderful sweet citrus/grapefruit aroma... outstanding for a macro. The diminish through to the flavour but a deep hop resin seems to dominate with a pronounced bitterness. This beer surprised the hell out of me.. very nice. I will be trying to get some of this unique flavour in my home brew.
