UPDATED: MAR 5, 2007 A gift from my transplanted Calgarian friend living in Japan TimE. This seems more like an American wheat than a German hefe. Thanks Tim. Page 313 of Michael Jacksons Great Beer Guide and only 317 of his 500 Classic Brews to go

Bottled. A golden beer with a disappearing white head - hmm, it seems filtered, so maybe it is a Kristalweizen. The aroma is sweet wheaty combined with notes of oranges and light banana notes. The flavor is sweet malty and wheaty with light banana notes. The body is a bit light.

Bottled. Pale yellow coloured. Clear. Off white head. Light yeast, light banana and light spice in the aroma. Flavour is light watery and bland. Some yeast, some banana and some spice as well as in the aroma. Is a bit artificial. Very thin bodied. Light citric and acidic end.

Yellow with a very thin head. Sharp aggressive rough outdoor aroma. Spritzy then foamy mouth feel. Hint of lemon butter. More American than German in style.

Somewhat sadder than what i remembered. Yes it is a wheat beer with a presence of bananas and cloves. What is there that i didnt recall is some skunkiness and a very thin body. Maybe it is rose tinted glasses, maybe it is fosters, but isnt as good as i once remembered.

In the bottle. Pours gold with a big bubbled white head. The aroma was slightly skunked. Fairyl sweet with a faint grainy wheat flavor. Has just a touch of cloves? Super clear and extremely filtered. Sadly, this stands out among most bottle shop offerings in this part of the world, taste-wise.

On tap at Opera Bar. Tasted a bit weird to me the first time, since filthmuppet supplied it with a slice of lemon. Second one tasted better without, but maybe a bit boring. In retrospect, perhaps the lemon wasnt a bad idea after all, since the beer itself really did nothing for me beyond actually being a hefeweizen. Good thing i like hefeweizen i suppose.
