Tasting from July 2008. On draught @ the legendary Guildford hotel, Guildford, a month or so prior to it burning almost to the ground. Medium gold with good clarity and a fine, tight bead. Head went up then went down to just a ring of white on the meniscus. Initial aroma of pond water, water lillies and rockmoss wanes to reveal some spicy, weedy and herbal hops and light toasted grains. Quite fizzy in the mouth, a carbonic acid bite grips the tongue and sees it end harshly crisp. Rough pasty grain flavour, toasted white bread, a sweet front and honey like linger resides long after each swallow. Hops are subtle, herbal but add nothing to it. Very, very light body I found strange of a beer that’s as sweet as this. Really missed the mark for me as a Pilsner. Would love to see these guys brew this one again with a modern touch!! bluevegie (3073) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAR 25, 2007
On tap @ Clancy’s Freo (infrequently). Clear pale almost golden body with a short white head. Aroma is not that inviting, mainly malts. Sweet inoffensive taste seem to pick up notes of corn.
