2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Clear golden and filtered body with aroma of buttery toast, little hop character, very (very) average APA, the blurb is BS......."an absolute pearler"...not!
Aroma has some spicy notes. Taste of pine and stone fruit. Mild bitterness. It is a fairly nice Australian pale ale. alang51 (81) - Essendon West, AUSTRALIA - SEP 3, 2016
Aroma of oranges, light tropical fruit, caramel. Rather sweet and quite fruity with bitterness that build to just about balancing. Lacks finish, watery. TedE (1355) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JUL 12, 2015
330ml bottle into Shaker. Aroma of stale bread with a touch of pepper. Sparkling amber beer with thin lasting white head. Light carbonation. Sharp and tangy with medium body, quite flat. Good finish, pine bitterness develops into faint grapefruit with a touch of malt right at the end. Nice(though subdued) example of an APA. drjoeng (1322) - SINGAPORE - JUN 3, 2015
4.5%ABV. Pale Ale.
Poured out of the bottle with a nice head of soapy foam.
The color was quite an inviting amber hue, 16-18ºSRM.
The mouthfeel was watery and the palate had light aromas of pale malt flavors. Not much to write home about in the hop department.
It was ok... Jimthechap (2064) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 3, 2015
Orange amber colour with a minimal head and plenty of carbonation evident in the body. Good clarity too. The aroma takes a bit of digging in to get with some orange, and lime leaf. You really have to work to get it out though. Good carbonation in the body with flavours of coffee, orange loves, and mandarin. It dwells mainly on its cereal rather than its hops but that said, it leaves a bit of a tang on the tongue afterward. Somewhat thin, but I suppose in context on a hot day in Broome, probably a good option.

This was half price $38 for 24 instead of $76. Aroma fruity vegemite at first, then I realised exactly what the familiar smell was - the smell of sticky concentrated wort in the can of home beer when you just open it! colour - who cares, carbonation - not overly, head short lasting. Nice medium malt body and light but decent enough bitterness that lingers a little. Not typical pale ale but interesting enough and quite good (unlike their awful mango "beer") wouldn’t pay AU $76 a carton though but for $38 on special excellent bang 4 buck mattyhennessy (376) - Highton, AUSTRALIA - MAY 28, 2014
Pours a pale yellow with a small white head. Sweet but mild aroma. Flavour is almost honey like in it’s sweetness. Some floral hops but nothing overly complex. A good introduction to craft beer, but nothing flash Lealea (1) - AUSTRALIA - MAR 25, 2014 does not count
I also don’t know why this has such low ratings, I joined this site just to rate this beer... It’s a perfect pale ale, not just perfect but I have no allergies when I drink this! So many beers cause issues to my sinus etc this is heaven... Thanks Matso for a great beer!!! thebigkahuna (27) - - JAN 25, 2014
i dont understand why matso beers get such low ratings, i quite like them including this one. Very pricey though Jado (798) - Camp Hill, AUSTRALIA - JAN 23, 2014
330 ml bottle. Pours a clear gold with a small white head and moderate carbonation. Aromas are very light with hints of lemon and flowers. The taste is similar, though there is a touch of pepper in the mid-palate. Very clean finish with no discernible aftertaste. Watery body. Drinks more like a lager than a pale ale. Not great.
