COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formally known as the ’Smokey Bishop’, this is a regal beer, resounding with dense and lush chocolate and coffee notes. As indicated, this beer is based on the dark lagers of Munich, Germany and is, as far as the brewers are concerned, a rewarding and hedonistic beer.

Note: 4.7% in bottles, 4.9% draught.

Clear dark brown with thin, bubble white head. Mild aroma of dark malts and roasted nuts. Taste starts like a regular lager, then the chocolate and nuts done out. Finishes bitter. Quite refreshing for a dark looking beer.

BB 29/09/2017. Poured a clear coppery brown with a 5mm light beige frothy head that diminished quickly to a cap that laced poorly in spots. Carbonation moderate, slow and coarse. Aroma of sweet caramel with hints of smoke. Taste of low strength, soft smoke, sweet mild caramel malt and a hint of coffee; no real bitterness. Light body, a bit thin. Smooth with a soft mouthfeel and very short slightly bitter finish. Easy drinking.

330ml bottle into shaker. Copper coloured beer with solid white head. Medium carbonation. Very very slight cocoa nose. Light body, flat mouthfeel. Finish is fruity and slightly bitter. Chocolate and sour fruit make a late appearance. Quite nice, like a cross between Tooheys Old and Kent Old.

Keg - Gourmet Escape, Margaret River. A clear mid-brown with a small, mostly fading beige head. Chocolate, toasty malts, earth and nuts. Light to medium body, medium to full carbonation with a moderate intensity and length finish. Has refreshment factor.

Darkish amber / Diet-Coke color body. Maltiness is quite strong from the nose to the palate. Sweet bitter chocolate stays around a bit and leaves a clean palate. Good malty/roasty drop.

Doesn't tickle the nose and there is a hairline of white cap on the pour of the dark red brew. But it has a super taste that belies the start. Chocolate and tropical fruit comes through before a sharp but enticing bitterness. Be great to try draught. Not smoky. 330ml, 4.7%, 1.2std drinks. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml bottle pours amber with low white head. Aroma is sweet as is the taste. Caramel dry and very drinkable. Well rounded

What this beer lacks in appearance it makes up for in taste. Pours a fairly dark red-brown with no head or lacing. At a glance it could mistaken for a cola. It is pleasant on the nose with chocolate playing second to malt aromas. It is smooth in the mouth with low carbonation. The flavours are really well balanced with malts prominent as well as chocolate and coffee also in the mix. There is an ever so slightly bitter finish and fittingly something smokey as well.
