Ruby, thick loose head. Chocolate malt aroma, with great whole leaf noble hops. Taste is well-balanced between rich roasty hops, sweet chocolate, burnt coffee, and noble hops. Very full but easy drinking. Reminiscent of some traditional three-thread porters in some ways.
Cask at the Bricklayer’s Arms, Putney, 16th Jan 08. Deep chestnut colour with with a lacy head. Aroma and flavpur both dominated by rich dark caramel and chocolate flavour coming through underneath. A hint of smoke too. Palate is smooth and rich. Nice stuff but I have to echo the previous rater and ask "where’s the fruit?" DonMagi (5593) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 12, 2007
Cask from the market porter. This is an old ale? Well in that case the wrong pump clip was on the handpull. Aroma is relitivly roasty, biscuity and richer malts, grassy hop. Taste was similarly roasty, hints at citrus fruit and a decnet amount of bitterness in the finish. So where is the tart fruit? Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 29, 2007

A Mes rate:
Cask handpull at GBBF. Excellent chestnut colour with a slight head. Coffee and dark malt aroma with some delicate hops in the background. Awesome dark malty flavour with plenty of fruit and a beautiful bitter coffee finish. Superb mouthfeel. Certainly the best of this style that I have had. oh6gdx (26487) - Vasa, FINLAND - AUG 15, 2007
Cask. Dark amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, some dar kfruits, slight vinegar and malts. Flavour is very caramelly, sweet wooden and slightly roasted malts. Really toasted aftertaste. downender (8774) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - AUG 2, 2007
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2007 Cask-conditioned at the Hillgrove Porter Stores, Bristol 1/8/07. Dark red with a strong tan head that left a lot of lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, spice and red fruits. The flavour had plenty of tangy fruit, roasted malt and a hoppy finish. Excellent. SilkTork (5806) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - FEB 9, 2007
Bright bottled at Dover Beer Fest 2007. A good roasty ale with a healthy but not overbearing smack of hops. A delicious and flavoursome beer of considerable character and interest. Difficult to categorise - has elements of a stout or mild, yet with plenty of hops. Yummy.
