Bottle. Clear amber body, medium white head. Aroma of honey, nuts, bubble-gum, candies, dryed apples. Taate is lightly, but pleasantly bitter, sweet. Bubble-gum, apples, honey, alcohol. Medium body, high carbonation, very high attenuation.
Clear, good.

7.8%ABV. Dopplebock.

Poured out amber. 12ºSRM.

Nose is sweet and malty.

Mouthfeel is syrupy. Malty. Sweet. Treacle, caramel and noble hops.

Overall just a beautifully balanced, full-bodied, alcoholic brew. 7.8%ABV may not sound like a lot considering today’s craft beer offerings, but based on the traditional character of this particular brew and the how old the dopplebock style is, Matuska really put out a fine strong lager.

Goes on Favorites List!

Draught at Zly Casy, Prague. Clear deep golden beer with a nice offwhite head. Malty caramel aroma, citrus, floral, biscuits. Hoppy floral flavor, biscuits, some alcohol. Ratebeer says doppelbock, label at Zly Casy says IPA. Id say it is somewhere in between.

Roublard (218) - Prague, CZECH REPUBLIC - DEC 15, 2013
Bottled. Aroma is very, very good (as usual). Appearance is very impressive as well - clear amber with a beautiful beage head. But the taste was a bit dissapointer. Body is full of caramel tones, spices and nutty, but some alcohol spoils the shole impression. Finish is a bit hoppy, but again I expected more.

Shaney (2423) - Köln / Cologne, GERMANY - DEC 3, 2013
Rotbraunes Bier mit ordentlicher Krone. Malzdominantes Aroma mit harzigem Hopfen. Vollmundiger Antrunk. Karamellmalz mit Getreide- und Nussaromen, leicht toastig. Der harzige Hopfen klingt lange nach; leicht spritig im Abgang.

Bottle. Thanks Nick. Pours clear Reddish Brown with an off-white head. Doughy aroma. Liquid bread. Full bodied and caramel flavoured base. The ’christmas; elements are quite subdued which isn’t unpleasant. There’s an almost medicinal hop edge to it as well. Very nice but not as bold as other Matuskas.

Dedollewaitor (16430) - Odense, DENMARK - DEC 27, 2012
Bottle @ Pivni Rozmanitost, Prague. Pours clear ruby amber with a creamy head and lacings. Lots of fresh piney and grapefruity hops. Some caramel, very vague spices and a power piney bitter finish that lastes throughout. Smooth and dry.

mmahut (1858) - CZECH REPUBLIC - DEC 26, 2012
Crystal bronze body with massive head. Aroma is sweet and alcohol. From the taste I would say little bit too much alcohol as it is overkilling the malt sweetness. Some nutty flavours on the background. Finish is bitter and (again) with tones of alcohol. Maybe the alcohol is that should be so Christmas about it? :)
