high marks for aroma and appearance - aroma has many things - nice chocolate, coffee, maybe smoke or roasted. dark dark pour. palate is thin for style/ what aroma is like. too much carbonation in taste. this would be better with much lower carbonation - still good, slightly creamy - vanilla, with all of the aromas in taste. good brew with much happening. wildbeercat (359) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - JUN 16, 2013
12 fl oz / 355mL can into a pint glass. Served cold.
Aroma: There is a lot of chocolate and roasted malt going on here. Some nice coffee ground smell. A tiny bit of smoke, even. Really smells quite good.
Appearance: This is a handsome, handsome brew. Completely opaque black/dark brown, with a solid, frothy dark brown head. Not tan, not off-white, but dark, dark brown. Handsome.
Taste: Good golly miss molly there is a lot of flavor here. Lots of chocolate up front on the arrival. Transitions to some spice and smoke, and ends on smoky pepper. The can mentions something about cinnamon--maybe it’s in there, but it doesn’t stand out to me really. The chipotle pepper is definitely there though. Great stuff!
Palate: Full bodied. Moderate-long finish.
Overall: What a nice find! The contrast between the bittersweet chocolate and the roasty smoky pepper is something you have to try! DCLawyer (2914) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - JUN 15, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 25, 2014 Can->Nonic. Black with huge frothy light brown head. Aroma: chocolate, malt, spice. Taste is bitter metallic, with cocoa, pepper, smoke. Thin but decent. TheGB (579) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 14, 2013
Pours black with a nice head. Light aroma of dark malt, caramel and hops. Smooth taste with almost a milk stout smoothness. Malt and not much spice on the taste I’d say. Kshlava (71) - - JUN 13, 2013
A very nice brew. Pours deep chocolate brown. A nice chocolate and espresso flavor with a spiced after taste. I will be having more of this one!

black with a thin mocha head, poor retention and no lacing. chocolate, earthy vegetables, toast, ...seaweed? i get hints of something that reminds me of the sea. medium bitter, light sweet, umami. medium body, thin feel, fine and tingly carb. very little presence. it makes me think of a stout that somebody watered down. Serving: 12 oz. can from State Line Liquors. It pours black with slight ruddy highlights and a slim brown head. The nose is a odd mix of chipotle chilies, green peppers, and baker’s chocolate. The flavors follow suit with a slight earthiness coming in and a little mix of spices. Medium bodied with average carbonation a peppery finish. A little odd for my taste. zoucrew102 (2104) - - MAY 26, 2013
Can. Aroma is chocolate with notes of chillies. Pours black with a short light brown head. Taste is chocolate with a hint of spice from the chillies. Finishes smooth with a bit of cinnamon. Well-balanced between the chocolate and chillies.

Had this once sometime last year...canned. Hint of chocolate on an otherwise sweet roasted nose. Flavors range from burnt coffee to dark chocolate to pepper to hints of spicy hops on the finish. Pretty good stuff. jehoesefat (372) - Poway, California, USA - MAY 24, 2013
Smells a little chocolaty, a little like coffee, but kind of funky too, I think from the pepper. Pours deep black, can’t see at all through it even when held up to the sun. Tastes a little smoky, bitter finish, overall kind of weak.
