Sure.. the scientists have published essays, the philosophers poems, the naysayers flyers.. but here at the center of the Maui Brewing micro-verse, we are publishing the ultimate in doomsday aloha – this year’s last canned seasonal, Aloha B’ak’tun! The word aloha conveys both greeting and goodbye in the Hawaiian language and B’ak’tun refers to the 3000+year cycle of the Mayan Calendar which is ending. This apocalyptic Belgian-style stout is brewed with Hawaiian chocolate, locally-grown chipotle chilies and cinnamon spice.

Can. Pours black, brown head. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, caramel, and spices. Medium sweet taste. Medium body, creamy texture, coffee and spice in the finish. Didn’t pick up on the chilies which was disappointing. Too thin for a stout which was the style they were going for. Overall good flavor, would drink again.

the chili and cinnamon itself would be nice but somehow the combination with this stout creates a mix that isnt really that pleasant. TAste is a stout with a bit of extra but nothing special either. Still a nice beer.

Deep black body with a bubbling, vanishing offwhite head. Complex aroma, a bit spicy. Taste is sweet, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla. Soft body, soft carbonation

Pours black with a nice head. Light aroma of dark malt, caramel and hops. Smooth taste with almost a milk stout smoothness. Malt and not much spice on the taste I’d say.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2013 Pours dark with a brownish head that dissipates after a bit. The carbonation propels the aroma of chocolate, toasted malts, and spices. The taste is similar: chocolate, toasted malts, spices, cinnamon, and faintly coffee. Palate is somewhat thinner than I expected giving it a "dry stout" kind of feel. Overall, it’s easy drinking and the aroma and taste upfront are interesting/different.

Pours a dark brown almost black color with a medium tan head that leaves spotty soapy lacing. Smells of chipotle peppers, roasted malt, Belgian yeast, and dark chocolate. Tastes of coffee, cinnamon, dark chocolate, Belgian yeast, and, chipotle peppers, with a black pepper finish. Mouthfeel is thin and watery with good carbonation. This is a pretty good Belgian stout. I like the added chipotle peppers. Too bad its a one time limited beer.

Pours a thick, opaque, black with a large, lasting, foamy brown-sugar head. Aroma of cinnamon, mild chile, subtle dark chocolate. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate dialed up a bit, cinnamon quite subtle, and Belgian yeast contributing only subtly. The mix of flavors is really nice, nothing overpowers. Excellent.

Pours an inky black with a big, foamy light brown head. Malty aroma with chocolate. Lingering spice taste. OK but not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
