Can @ The BeerMongers... Poured thick black with an easy forming, light brown head. This gave off a tin can, metallic tasted in both the nose and initial flavor. Some of the most metallic I have ever experienced out of a can. As it warmed this faded, thankfully. Mostly chocolate in here. Even a hint of cinnamon. The chipotle seemed absent, maybe added some smoked notes, but hardly any spice or flavoring. The Belgian yeast also didn’t affect the flavor much, perhaps just gave it a thinner body, which allowed the roast and dark chocolate notes to dominate. Can. Black hued body with a large tan head that lasts. Aromas of dark fruit esters, plums, dates, vinous Belgian yeast, bready malt, leathery and floral with a moderatly strong chocolate presence and some earthy chipotle. Baked apples and chocolate muffins. Flavors are earthy, bready, dusty and roasty with mild pepper and stronger chocolate. Medium bodied with a roasty finish. A bit drier than expected. Medium carbonation. 50belair (3643) - Florida, USA - APR 9, 2013
Can shared at Chris’ pad. Coffee, chili, and light malt aromas. Dark brown pour with an off white head. Mellow roasted malt notes with mild and coffee and chili undercurrents. A little thin and watery. rougeau13 (3014) - Richmond, Texas, USA - APR 17, 2013
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2013 Almost black with a light brown head. Aroma of smoked chili peppers, anise, chocolate, and funky fruity yeast notes. Taste is woody with a little chocolate and full of chili pepper flavor without really being spicy. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated, and a touch dry. Everything about this is kind of mild, but there’s really no other complaint. Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Aroma of chocolate, and vegetables, with hints of dark roasted malts and coffee. Pours a solid blackish-brown with a long lasting khaki head and abundent fine lacing. The taste is dark chocolate, and roastiness, with hints of dark roasted coffee, pepper, and cinnamon. Medium body with moderate carbonation. A smooth mouthfeel. Overall, a very enjoyable and tasty brew.

Chocolate and cinnamon aromas are present. Dark black color with minimal tan foam. The taste is sweet up front which gives way to mild bitterness and has some very light lingering spice to it. The body is a little thin but slick on the palate bytemesis (8411) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAY 18, 2013
