COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a "Super-Premium" hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness.

Big Swell IPA is a fresh handcrafted India Pale Ale brewed with huge amounts of American hops and malted barley...dry hopped to perfection!

0.33 l can at Stockholm Beer Festival 2009. Orange amber color. Good juicy hop aroma with notes of orange and pineapple. Bittersweet flavor with firm bitteness and tropical fruity hops featuring pineapple, grapefruit and orange. Hoppy mouthfeel. Excellent IPA. Good drinkability, I could drink several pints of this.

Haleiwa, Hi - Malama Market - 12 oz can. Dark orange pour, thick white head that leaves good lacing. Nice pleasant spruce aroma. Flavor has a nice solid sweet caramel-like back end to balance out the grapefruity citrus. Thick, creamy mouthfeel. Pleasantly surprised - glad I bought a whole six.

Tasted on tap at the Bistro 12th Annual IPA Festival on 8/8/09. This IPA pours an orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and citrusy. A medium to light bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, orange and citrus. The hops are floral and herbal. A little sweet tasting, with a little bit of pineapple at the finish. Mild to medium bitterness. Nice balance. Descent carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth.

12 oz can-tarde w/blutt59. Clear off orange color w/a moderate white head. Citrus hop aroma. Flavors of pine & floral hops, some citrus, & a little bit of a malt finish. Nice balance, not an overpowering hop bomb. Smooth & refreshing brew, long finish. Good basic IPA, thanks Bob!

12 oz. (thanks to Austin for bringing me one of these). Golden orange pour with a thick off-white head. Aroma of pine and tangerines. Good bitter hop flavor. Not too sweet but still nicely balanced. This is a very good IPA. It will not blow you away but it is very good.

Can. Pours clear amber, with a one-and-a-half finger, beige head, good and lasting lacing. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, toffee, and more floral hop notes. Medium body, zesty and medium dry. Flavor of bread with a little bit of toffee, pine resin, and hints of citrus and grass. Long lasting medium bitter finish.

greig (253) - Hamilton, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 11, 2009
A really nice, complex, malty IPA. It’s backed up by a very English hop character. The aroma is a little lacking, but the palate is a playground of subtle flavours. Nice earthy bitterness with notes of marmalade, and sweet malts creating a comforting sensation. Not the US IPA I was expecting, but a very nice beer anyway.
