Draft. Pours a moderate, light beige head, with minimal lacing, over a clear, dark brown (SRM 25) body.....nose is roasted malts, with cocoa, chocolate, light coffee, slight hop soice, balance to the malts.......taste is mildly sweet with heavy roasted malts, with cocoa, chocolate, hints of coffee, mild hop spice, finishing with moderate hop bitterness, and slight roasted bitterness, balanced......mouth feel, light body, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. This meets the Schwartzbier style quite nicely. It is clean, light and refreshing. Rating here to style, above to enjoyment. Draft at the brewpub. Near black in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of toasted nuts, light pale malt with a bit of caramel and cocoa powder as well. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white to light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa powder, roasted grain, coffee), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of minerals and chalk.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours really dark brown with orange glints and a light tan head. Aroma of light fruits and dark malts. Med body, or so. Flavor: tastes like a schwarzbier. It’s lightly sweetly malty, has a chocolate hint, notes of light fruit, and light, light noble hop. Finishes a bit earthy. Very enjoyable brew. Pours a dark muddy brown with a tan head atop. The aroma is malty with light roasted toffee and molasses malts, light hops are almost not present. A creamy malt base with a dry finish. Nice bready and molasses malt flavours that gives a good body to the brew. Overall, a good sessionable dark brew.
