Dark brown, slick coffee from the malts and very floral hops. In the mouth it is big and smoky with plenty of fresh hop flavor. This is excellent drinking. decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - NOV 2, 2010
Almost black pour with tan head and lace. Aroma of light caramel malt, medicine, and abv. Licorice, roasted malt, and nice abv warmth. Medium bodied but a tad fizzy. nice danielcurtis81 (1519) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 16, 2010
On draft at the brewpub. Appearance is a rich deep brown almost like a Kukui Nut brown. The flavors and aromas were very yeasty at first with a sourdough edge, this quickly gave way to a earth hop tones and the rye. As the beer went on the yeast began to take over again. Overall a solid brew but one too many flavors for me maybe. baraciisch (3376) - California, USA - AUG 27, 2011
Definitely light, spicy rich rye flavor to it... Noticeable belgian yeast taste... Pretty good beer... Light in body, not bad, fairly consistent with the Black IPA style... BMan1113VR (7929) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUL 6, 2012
