"before i had this i was wondering why a brewer that only cans a few beers would can a 2nd ipa as a special release, and after having said beer...i’m still wondering. i kinda dig the hops used. earthy and a bit floral, but this is an average ipa at best, one dmensional, and not as good as the regular one, so it still begs the question - why?" Pours a clear copper-orange color. Thin off-white head with decent retention. Aroma is floral and citrus hops. Flavor is strong with lemon, grapefruit and grassy notes. Medium bodied and a fairly clean finish. arrogantb (1402) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 10, 2012
I picked up a sixes of these because I liked the Big Swell and it was super hoppy. This was just about an average IPA. It wasn’t bad it just wasn’t anything special. Amber orange color, smells like the faintest of hops. Taste is malt forward with some bitterness on the finish. Overall I was disappointed especially since it was $11 per sixer.

Thanks to jjfoodie for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours an amber color with a large white head. The aroma is very dank, with some strong resinous notes, as well as some pineapple and bread notes. The beer is also full of hop flavor. I get a lot of resin, pine and pineapple notes, with a little bit of toffee, which allows the bitterness to be fairly high. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. beerguy101 (5364) - Newark, California, USA - MAR 17, 2012
Sampled on 3/17/2012. This IPA pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz can. Medium sized white foamy head with nice lacing. The aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet, with some citrusy hops. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, caramel and bready. The hops are citrusy and grapefruity, with some tropical flavors. Decent carbonation. A medium bitterness IPA. Nice balance between the hops and malts. A touch of tropical sweetness at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Clear amber color with lasting ivory sheen. Tropical fruit, marshmallow, honey biscuit aromas. Light to medium bodied. Sweet caramel, honey flavors with some floral, tropical fruit hoppiness to balance--good. User29624 (1687) - - DEC 26, 2011
Can. Pours copper with an off white head. Aroma of floral and citrus hops. Nice balance with the caramel malt and floral/citrus hops. Good IPA, decent flavor. reebtogi (6385) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 20, 2011
355ml can pours a nice golden orangeish color with a finger and a half of creamy white head. Aroma is floral and citrusy hops with a hint of caramel. Taste is pleasing caramel malt sweetness with a citrusy hop bitterness in the finish as well as some earthy notes. Medium body and carbonation leave a nice mouthfeel. I truly enjoyed sampling this IPA as it was full of flavor. dwyerpg (6410) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - DEC 19, 2011
A nice aroma of hops, stronger than the aluminum of the can. This I found to be fantastic. A nice hop flavor, but a good graininess. Very smooth though also. Excellent. dresden (1581) - Saskatchewan, CANADA - DEC 14, 2011
Hazy orange with a nice fluffy head. Smells terrific of pine and pineapple. Quite a bit of malt in the flavour, more than was expected. Lots of pineapple as well. It’s a little different than I had expected from the look. Interesting, not amazing but good.
