tap at 1702-hmm,, think this is another case of maui beers coming to the mainland in old/oxidized shape. pours dark orange with very little head. nose is sweet hops citric and lightly oxidized (cardboard). flavors are leafy herbal tea like notes with lite reson. finish is with lots of herbal leafy notes, almost like a green hop beer. definately a unique hop flavor here but wish the beer was in better shape. body is thin and doesnt do this beer justice along with lite carbonation. I bet its better in HI! blutt59 (6564) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUL 9, 2011
canned, thanks to jjfoodie, clear orange golden with a sweet malty orange aroma, flavor is sweet malts, honeysuckle and oranges GreatLibations (1854) - Last Supper, Arizona, USA - JUL 6, 2011
Pours a bit on the amber side with a one finger head. Very faint aromas of sweet malt and pine. Medium full nectar with good carbonation. Definitely different with this off the wall hop varietal. It proves a bit on the fresh candy side while exhibiting a moderate hop component. A good IPA but not worthy of a second can..... Atom (2456) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 6, 2011
12oz can pours clear reddish copper with a huge off-white head. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruits, caramel, slight pine, and an earthy biscuit. Taste is predominately a malty biscuit into some sweet fruits, spice, and caramel, slight bitterness on the finish. From the aroma I wasn’t expecting this to be so malt forward but still a really nice IPA. Beerdrinker79 (2188) - Idaho, USA - JUL 3, 2011
12 oz. can- Pours deep golden with a nice white 3 finger head and spiderweb lacing. Aroma is very citrusy, grass, a little resin. The flavor is creamy bitter pine and again resin. There is some fruit, but not as much as in the aroma. Body is full to medium, carbonation is relatively high. Not bad, I would have to compare to Maui brewings big swell, not sure which is better.

can. citrus rind hops (orange, grapefruit), pulp/juice and floral esters in the nose with a moderate touch of malt (crackers, bread crust/toast). snappy with moderate bitterness and medium acid. chewy caramel and snappy, dry, sort-of pungent hop flavor (more citrus rind, juice and pulp, but not what I’d call juicy or dank). a bit sweaty in the finish and a bit too rounded, full and chewy at times, but that’s about what you expect from IPA these days :/ Beaver (1802) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 29, 2011
12oz can. Pours a clear golden orange with a medium rocky white head that laces the glass.Rusty (1547) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - JUN 24, 2011
The aroma is sweet melon, some crystal malt and some earthy, spicy hops.
The flavor is a lot of sweet sugary malts, fruit and biscuit with some grassy bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, too sweet and biscuity for me and I didn’t care a lot for the hop flavors. Decent though, but not worth $12 a six pack.
Pours an amber with a white sticky head. Aroma is malt, hops, spices and grass. Flavor is grassy juicy hops, malt, spices grapefruit. Really like the hop profile grapefruit and grassy notes and sweetness balance in this one. Under-rated! beerbastard (844) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - JUN 24, 2011
I like it, a little pricey, but worth the try. Enjoyable nose of gapefruit and other citrus. Great mouthfeel. Taste of sweet malts followed by bitterness, but not quit enough. Then the flavors of toffee, citrus, with a background of lemon and earth like aftertaste. Leaves a mild dryness in the finish. The more I drink it the more I like it! poisoneddwarf (2511) - Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, USA - JUN 23, 2011
12 oz can into tulip. Pours a hazy orange with a medium light-beige head with great retention; leaves some nice lacework. Buttered biscuits is the first thing to come to mind after putting my nose in the glass; lemon rind is lurking in the background. Taste is bittersweet and grainy. Carbonation is medium-high and the body is full. Overall, another really good IPA. Out of the four IPAs I drank tonight, it looks like I saved the best two for last--and both came from a can.
